Has anyone else experienced a change in their shaping rules?

I'm with MWeb on a 4mb line.
I used to get full-speed on my line from 18h30 each day, like clockwork, and it would last until the morning. Lately (past few weeks) i've only gotten full speeds from midnight (actually not full, but close to full), and about half-speeds from 18h30 to midnight, with the usual crap speeds in the day.
Not sure why this is - no change in the line syncing speed at moment.
If this continues then I'm going to dump Mweb

I have a similar issue with my 384k line.

Normal HTTP downloads and Steam downloads are at full bull all day, everyday. Downloaded approx. 3.5gb on Steam the other day.
However, with my torrents I am lucky if I manage to get to 13kb/s on a good day regardless of the time of day. A 350mb file will take approximately 3-5 days, 700mb will go for around a week and lets not even suggest anything above a gigabyte.

I am seriously considering dumping MWEB. I have friends in the same area with the same connection speeds and uncapped on the same exchange, and theirs are fine. I have been back and forth with MWEB on the matter and still to no avail. Now don't get me wrong, their help and support has been great and I am all for the "Fair Usage Policy" and understand it. I am not asking for my account to run at full potential 24/7, I would just like it to be back to the way it was. Or at least on par with people who don't seem to have an issue.

Anyway, my 2c worth :P

Thanks,
Beo...

Have you tried changing your login details [email protected] or [email protected] place or remove the 'dsl' part and see if it makes any difference?
Yes, thanks, forgot to mention that. :)
PS: Have also tried buying prepaid airtime from another ISP and no more issue, full line speed 24/7. So yarrr...

Hi mmshrinker, we have not changed any of our shaping rules. Is browsing and mail being affected too ?

TRY OPENWEB GOLD YOU WON'T BE SORRY, I'm Not. Changed from MWEB a while back. They ok for your average internet user - mass market. For the more discerning user OPENWEB GOLD

Thanks Hummercellc, I will try this - where would I make that change (excuse the dunce question)?

The username on your ADSL router, that you got from MWEB. You can log in with either the [email protected] or [email protected], it changes which backbone network or something you are on. Not sure if it still does though since they got their own IPC networks nowdays....defnitly worth a shot. I`m getting really low speeds on torrents last week also, gona try that.

Ok i just switched from @dslmweb to @mweb.co.za and speeds went from 50kbps to 300kbps...... ;)

You're the Man! So far, it's upped my speed by 100kbps. Will keep monitoring it today, and let you know if it sticks. Thanks BrokenLink.

Still holding up, here - thanks again for that pearl of advice. A (probably well-meaning) mweb techie recommended i change that log-in detail a few weeks ago...had completely forgotten that i did so until your post.
