Has everyone deserted iBurst?

How good (or should i say bad) is iburst recently? I am signing up for month-to-month (already got a desktop modem) and am wondering what the service is gonna be like.

I'm in CPT. Browsing and http downloads (on 2 threads or more) are fine.
I get full 115KB/sec for multiple connect HTTP and FTP downloads.

YOu shouldn't be ashamed. Its not your fault iBurst provides K@K service. You have multiple choices here besides HellBurst!

At least he doesn't contribute to Telkom. Every ADSL user contributes to Telkom over and above bandwidth costs.

Seriously tho iBurst in the Johannesburg region sucks, I can't even use the 9Gb's I pay for every month. My contract ends this month and Iburst is out the door. I'll probably go to neotel, they seem to be digging up the streets, fingers crossed I hope I'm online by December.

Yeah, they are digging up the streets alright, so much so that the subcontractors in CT who normally tidy up after them are refusing to fix up the mess since neotel have not paid them for the work done so far.

Lets hope this is not an indication of how they will be running their business in the future.

Well my application was approved but now how long will it take for my username to become active?

My iBurst works really well actually... Don't have a clue where my Roodekrans tower is but it must be close because I have 100% reception all the time (living on the side of a mountain rocks!)

And despite having only 500mb (thats all I can afford at iBurst prices) I stay connected... ok sure, I'm down to ISDN speed after the 4th of every month (I'm a bandwidth whore ok), but it still works for me :D.

Cheeper packages would be cool, but otherwise I'm happy... beats copper theft every 3 months.

500MB?! That's just my software updates for the month... LOL

Cheaper packages would be cool. Can't wait till June 2009 when Seacom arrives. Hopefully one day we will have true bandwidth.

It just makes me sick when my cousin in Europe has a 16MBps line with unlimited bandwidth every month for €40

But hey this is South Africa after all, so we can't expect much at all...

Why is it that ADSL accounts offer local bandwidth (i.e 1GB = 9GB local) and iBurst doesn't?

Uhhh, yea  Kinda amazes me I even manage to stretch it for 4 days.

It is kinda sad really, to think what we pay for Internet here compared to other countries is madness, and thats not even taking into account that as a South African you have a maximum copper line useage period of 3 months. Its a total joke, I honestly think we must be the only country in the world that stays awake at night worrying about their telephone lines being stolen.

Perhaps South Africa should invest in that ADSL via Power Lines system that they testing in the states (read about it on www.howstuffworks.com). You simply plug your ADSL router into your power outlet and you're set.

ok I must be double ashamed... I have both Iburst 5gig package and ADSL 2gig fibre package...

only reason why I haven't canned iburst is the fact I can at least get 20gigs off it every month @ R599... whereas adsl @ R479 I can only get 10gigs... :(

Well i signed the month-to-month giga contract on thursday its been over 24 hours, shouldn't i be connected already? Does anyone know of a way to speed the connection process up?

direct HTTP ;)

first 5gigs @ 130Kbps capped on the 2nd, then 6-7Kbps @ 24/6 (etc)
