I have a Mecer 37" LCD which is HD Ready.
I bought a LG Full HD upscaling DVD player.
I connect the units via HDMI cable for video to the LCD & fiberoptcal cable for sound to the surround sound amp.
Have the connection going since Dec '08 without incident.
Yesterday I wanted to play a AVI movie via the USB on the LG DVD player and the screen was snowy on the HDMI channel only with a hissing sound.
Took the player back for testing and the player played perfectly instore but once home again same problem hissing sound and snowy DVD playback.
You don't need a movie it makes that sound on the LG logo display screen which is snowy too.

I have the following connected to the LCD atm:
DVD player via RCA s-video1
Mediaplayer via component1
DVD player via HDMI
DSTV Decoder via RCA s-video2
SonyPlayStation via RCA s-video3

Why would it start this? Anyone with a similar problem? Help need with a solution please. Could it be the LCD units HDMI, all the other inputs are OK!:(

Why are you using S-video? It has a very limited quality... especially when a 37" is involved.
What do you mean by the two DVD player inputs (as in bold)?
You can safely use a straight RCA-RCA connection between the DVD player and the TV.

The one DVD player is a HD player and the other one is a SD player.

When you tested it instore, did you use the USB connection and the same AVI movie to test?
Could it be the USB connection?

Try using the CV(requires RGB cabling) out on your LG to your CV in on your TV, and test to see if the same problem exists, if not then there may be a problem with the HDMI connection.

Thanks guys for your replies.
I've sorted it out today, The Full HD DVD player has a resolution button on the remote for upscaling to Full HD on the LCD, when my wife tried playing a dvd, she must have pressed it by mistake. Because it is a HD ready LCD, therefore when the resolution button was pressed the LCD could not perform a FULL HD upscaling and became snowy and that explains the buzzing sound too. I played around with it today and discoved there problem. Thanx again.

I only used the HDMI cable for this unit, thanx
