Hello

I am currently on a 4Meg line with Mweb. when Telkom rolled out there free upgrades I was put onto the 10Meg, the 10Meg caused some issues so we went back down to 4Meg. However, I want to upgrade to 10Meg again, I was told by multiple Telkom reps that I could be up[graded and stay paying the price I did for my 4Meg. One rep said they had upgraded or synced my line to 10 and I should check. The ADSL checker showed I was still on 4. eventually they phoned us and told us this: they could upgrade our line but we would then need to pay extra, we were then also told we would need to upgrade our data speed with mweb to, meaning we would be paying roughly over a grand for the *free* upgrades. I'm very confused but I would like to know if I got the upgrade with Telkom would I also need to upgrade my service with Mweb? If you have any ideas please just let me know as im very confused with all this.

Thanks in Advance.

Check your Telkom invoice, you're probably being billed for DSL Faster which supports up to 4Mbps (this happened when you had issues and you got a price reduction) - you need DSL Fastest to get to 10Mbps.

You will need either a capped account or a 10MB Uncapped account to get the full benefit of a 10Mbps line, expect to pay between R800 - R1000mth for the voice+ADSL line(DSL Fastest)+10MB Uncapped (residential) depending on ISP and discounts.

1mbps became 2mbps for the same price
2mbps became 4mbps for the same price
4mbps became 10mbps for the same price

Mweb can't change the line speed if the price changes unless you contact them first, so basically you were paying +- 413 for ADSL line, now you will pay +- R300, to keep the SAME SPEED

If you wanted to speed up your account you'd have to contact mweb about it, and then they'll up your account speed, at a higher price, IIRC most people opted to keep their line speeds the same and requested the line match up with their current account speed, which meant a saving
