Slightly off topic but relevant to this thread

Why is it that everytime there's an election in SA.. people get all passionate about leaving SA and carry on, on internet forums as if this place was just pulled a Bob Mugabe?
I personally could have left a long time ago but I choose to stay because, despite all the kuk going on here I actually enjoy living here

If you have skills its not hard to get into another country, but it is time consuming. Especially if you are in the medical field.

When moving between countries there is an incredible amount of paper work, my wife is a foreign national and we have entire files dedicated to different sections. Our government is pretty useless at all of this so you need to keep everything.

That said, neither of us has any intention of moving to the UK, theres a reason my ancestors left it. Woman are better looking here, the food and weather are miles of ahead of anything in the UK and I prefer the quality of life here. I would have to give up so many activities if I went to expensive UK. I understand different people want different things outta life, so for some people, UK is fantastic for them.

Its easier to make money in the developing world than it is in the developed world.

That said, nothing is ganna go pear shaped anytime soon. Life will continue. After work today, if the wind is blowing west I intend going for a surf, if its not, then Ill do some dropshot fishing. Busy saving up for a Seadoo jetski. I live in a relatively crime free area so I dont intend giving this all up. Other than the "pound" there is no value for me in the UK.

Well, I managed to do a small reverse to that by one person, and brought some brains into the country :D (not mine, Im pretty daft)

I fully agree mate... you are very very correct about all of what you have said and I share your sentiment.
Leaving SA would mean I would have to scale back or cut out altogether so many things I do for enjoyment. I am simply not prepared to do so. And that's not mentioning the Big Brother state the UK has become.

Any plan that involves sorting out a Visa while already within the borders of that country is a poor plan. Been there done that. Doesn't matter if you can prove you entered the country legally. The bureaucracy simply does not cater for that scenario. It gets ridiculous to the point where the Visa official suggest driving across the nearest border to another country and applying there. :wtf: I agree though with the "by any means" general approach.
