It was on carbonite item advertised price was 9k paid upfront that never been recovered.
 
Scammed by a guy years ago. Was done so well I couldn't help but acknowledge his game.

His con was Oceans' Eleven quality. I literally fell over myself giving him my money. :) The b4st4rd!!

Don't laugh at me, I got scammed by that Bitconnect thing :( Where you transfer bitcoin over and it will grow and you make a profit lol. Just checked now the value of that bitcoin today is about 10k. FML
 
ashamed to admit I actually fell for the elon musk livestream double your bitcoin scam that was all over
I know stupid, but Ive learned since then,

wasn't a lot but I consider it school fees.
 
Twice actually-

Bought an iPhone 7 Plus that was iCloud locked - Didn't know at that time about it. Sold it on for spares.

Holiday in Margate: scammed by the famous Kathy Scrooby, she even showed us the property with a walk-in session, we were satisfied and paid, she sent booking confirmation etc, closer to the time of the holiday zero comms and cant reach her on how to get the keys etc, apparently she was doing the bookings for the owner and pocketing 100s of thousands and nothing going to the owner, eventually the owner reached out and paid us back in full as he didn't want his name and place to have a bad name.
 
I signed up to study at Damelin Correspondence after finishing high school
It lead to a years worth of headaches and hair-loss, with them ignoring my submissions even when they sent back confirmation emails.
10 god damn student advisors in a year that didn't even work for Damelin themselves.
And the second I start mentioning wanting a refund they block number and families numbers.
Put me off studying for a few years.
Sent all my correspondence with them to the Dep of Higher education, it took them a decade but the dep did at least do something about them.

Around PS4 release date, a guy presented as Container terminal worker desperate for funds to assist some ailing family member ..blah blah blah.
There was a container at terminal 'that was incorrectly offloaded' and been there for weeks, unclaimed. Upon opening and inspection, among the load was pallets of electronics.

He had a printed list of items, on SACT terminal document, he was flogging, and LG flatscreens he was selling at a lark. Showed me list. On list there was Sony PS4 few items down. Asked him about those. Nonchalantly says there are about 180 on 2 pallets in the container, but been focusing on selling TV's due to space weights whatever. Shows me the fancy boxed LG telly in car.
Looks all good and I am thinking this real. He could sell me TV for 2k. Say no..keen on PS4's. Ok also 2k each. I am like ok, what if I take more. He looks like he is thinking hard, then will do 20 for 30k. If I take it he throws in the sealed flatscreen too.

Being skeptical, I said am keen, but i want to go with him to collect personally. NO Problem. Security wasn't an issue. He is a terminal worker with contacts after all. Puts boxed Tv in backseat.
GO there, security waves us in. nods to the guy. I am oh yeah this oke is legit.
Parks, says wait, needs some bucks to grease palms of okes loading for me.. 12k will do. Balance when loaded. Sure. I keep the sealed telly so long. I am 'you sure thats enough. Want this smooth and quick. Says yeah!

Off he goes. Almost 30 -1hour later actual security rocks up and asks me WTF am i doing here. How did i get in. Go to entrance. Oke that waved us in not there. Nobody knows a Darren Swanepoel.

****!! Open LG box. Best cut shutter ply I ever bought.
 
Besides being scammed by MTN on my data top ups, nope, but many attempts have come my way, but none succeed. I've had my identity stolen though and few accounts opened but that was sorted via Police intervention. It's been quiet, so I guess those particular criminals may have been caught or have refrained who knows. This is SA, criminals are everywhere even in Govt lol.
 
Vodacom allowed unauthorised porting of my number - lost all the money in my wallet and all my airtime - TWICE
 
Who remembers that Power Balance bracelets from around 2010? I remember some guy showing us how he was "more flexible" while wearing his. :ROFL:
