Ordered a whole bunch of stuff, paid the tax yesterday and then got an sms later saying huge delays because of a surge in orders. Delivery will be delayed by a week at this stage.. Seems like lot of people are winning free prizes...
.
Easter weekend is also not going to help.

My sister has issues with one of her orders. She placed the order about 2 weeks ago and when she received the invoice for the Customs tax, she noticed that her delivery address was incorrect. She tried contacting Temu and Buffalo to have it changed. Where they got that specific address from only they will know. Her address on the order was correct. Temu said they couldn't assist because it wasn't in their possession any longer.

She tried contacting Buffalo by email, whatsapp and phone. First Buffalo said they couldn't do anything because they haven't received it. Some of the agents she spoke to at Buffalo was very unprofessional and rude. Last week Wednesday she managed to speak to someone after holding for 30 minutes. They told her that the delivery address will be changed while they were on the phone.

Today she saw on the tracking that the parcel is on its way to George in the Western Cape with some ITT courier company and she stays here in Heidelberg, Gauteng.

Worrying that Buffalo can make mistakes like that.

Is the address correct when you click on track in the order. Sounds like Buffalo screwed up data capturing at the their warehouse. You should be able to get refund from Temu when the package doesn't arrive.

Cant she just log a return? She will lose the import duties but at least get some money back before it says its delivered.

By the way they had no issue refunding my package that said delivered but wasnt delivered to my house.

So what is the minimum import duty payable on anything directly imported? Why go through the hassle of ordering online from overseas for something available locally?
And why support another country's economy when our own economy requires every bit of support it can get given that our economy is on life support at the moment.

where do you think the local stuff comes from?

If local retailer put pressure on gov then maybe. Otherwise they succeed at least in South Africa.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Temu.

I have bought so many things from takealot 3rd party sellers that was pure crap as those sellers import from AliExpress. Temu on other hand has a very limited range and I assume that makes sourcing times shorter and they quickly stop selling bad rated products thus avoiding the Wish curse .
Partnering with Buffalo express is a game changer. Currently only Temu and SHein partner with them and I hope other do too in future.

Temu quality is better than both takealot 3rd party sellers and paki stores so I would much rather support them. Let 3rd party sellers and paki stores cry until the cows come home. I don't care.

they are operating at a loss, no company can operate at a loss indefintely

I was looking at a macro lens, locally it is close to a R1000, with my discount I paid R30 for the lens and bought a tripod as well in order to meet the minimum order value of R150, total with import duties comes to R247.

Same item, same brand. Buying it locally won't change the macro picture, just the local supplier ripping me off.

As for the economy, thats as vague as defending democracy, why should I care?

Did you receive your order or is it still on the way?

paid the duty today, expected delivery is before 14 April
Reason I asked... I ordered branded arm sleeves and it was super low quality fakes. Google results show many fakes.

If your savings was with vouchers etc and the price was not "slashed" there is still hope.

All negativity aside, my R32 wallet is turning out to be a good purchase.
