it was a 90% odd discount I got on my first purchase

this is not a crazy brand either, its apexel
Same here. It cost R104 on Takealot and I managed to get 3 for R66 on Teh-moo (pronunciation).

It still cost the same if I want to make the mistake of ordering it again with a second order.

So I did my 2nd order. Two orders at same time. Buffalo ads them together and I had to pay one customs amount.

This time customs came down to 23.5%. I didn't buy clothing but around half the items fall under homeware and luggage. I can only conclude some of the items are 30% customs. I got various zipper repair kits for future use but that must have fallen under clothing.

The bad issues that I don't like is that with Buffalo they don't give you the customs percentage per item. Just the total. That is one thing I like with Amazon they give you the customs beforehand.

they are operating at a loss, no company can operate at a loss indefintely
Just looked up and they are operating at huge losses. Not sure where they get the funds to do so.
Might as well as milk them while one can seeing I will never use the post office.

weird thing happened with my latest order.
Tracking showed it arrived at SA customs on 24Mar. I received no request to pay taxes.
I just checked the tracking again, and there was some warning about taxes not received by Buffalo. I clicked on the warning and paid the taxes.
Looks like Buffalo is trying to shift the blame for late deliveries to the customer for not paying the taxes?

My second package arrived yesterday. So far so good. I am definitely going to buy from them again in the future. I am now seriously considering clothing and their genuine leather shoes. The genuine leather shoe prices in South Africa are insane while they are rather affordable.

This was a test run from me and it went very well. I'd give them a score of 90%.

Is this why Takealot has put Superballist up for sale?

Second order arrived, actually impresed with quality of items.
Sunglasses quality welcome surprise, I normally pay over R400 for these types, R83 on Temu.
Phone charging cables all good.
Bicycle rear rack actually metal and heavy.
Wahl cliper attachments, better quality than flimsy ones that came with wahl unit.

My sister has issues with one of her orders. She placed the order about 2 weeks ago and when she received the invoice for the Customs tax, she noticed that her delivery address was incorrect. She tried contacting Temu and Buffalo to have it changed. Where they got that specific address from only they will know. Her address on the order was correct. Temu said they couldn't assist because it wasn't in their possession any longer.

She tried contacting Buffalo by email, whatsapp and phone. First Buffalo said they couldn't do anything because they haven't received it. Some of the agents she spoke to at Buffalo was very unprofessional and rude. Last week Wednesday she managed to speak to someone after holding for 30 minutes. They told her that the delivery address will be changed while they were on the phone.

Today she saw on the tracking that the parcel is on its way to George in the Western Cape with some ITT courier company and she stays here in Heidelberg, Gauteng.
Just an update on my sister's parcel woes. It went to George with ITT courier instructed by Buffalo. My sister spoke to them on the phone and they told her that it has now been send back to their Johannesburg branch. She then spoke to the Johannesburg branch and they said the moment they receive the parcel they have to send it back to Buffalo and cannot deliver it to her at the correct address. Talking about a big fckup.

Ordered two pairs of sandals, some USB lights and a Samsung S24 case. The sandals are absolute garbage. I've picked up better in supermarkets. I was going for knock off Nordstrom's but Temu's are absolute garbage. I actually managed to pick up a pair which looked like it came from the same Nordstrom China factory while in Europe in a normal supermarket for like R200. But Temu is garbage. Case is also flimsy. The USB lights rattle. Junk.

I'll have to see what my second order of suspenders, plastic belts etc will look like. So far Temu looks worse than the local Chinatown.

agree ,total cheap chinese no name junk ,flea market stuff .of what i purchased, the pump is useless ,socks were way to small ,vests arent cotton ,my daughters skorts fell apart during the first match .nothing you cant buy at any of the big china shops .i suppose everything has a value ,you pay cheap you get cheap .

So what is the minimum import duty payable on anything directly imported? Why go through the hassle of ordering online from overseas for something available locally?
And why support another country's economy when our own economy requires every bit of support it can get given that our economy is on life support at the moment.
The guy delivering my China stuff is South African. So support him, not the SA store with the 300% markup.

Probably also a case of being so used to getting so little for the zar in your pocket that when you see the prices on temu you just load up on stuff feeling like your zar is worth something again.

It's not like we have any production here and places like China malls and takealot already have a lot of cheap Chinese junk for double to triple the price
