I really think it's pathetic that this thread was started in 2005, it's now mid 2008 and the customer is still pulling on the shortest end...

In SA, large companies use their customers as toilet paper!

Will the new Consumer Protection Bill force data bundle rollover?

The draft of the Consumer Protection Bill states that prepaid airtime must take 5 years to expire. Wendly Knowler in the Consumer Watch column in today's Cape Times specifically called the DTI to confirm this.

Now I am wondering, if I buy prepaid airtime and convert it to a databundle, does this conversion to data nullify the stipulation in the new bill regarding expiry?

Yes, *expiry nullification terms & conditions apply.

nice to see the Vodacom rep pop in 2 basically say neotel is not an option. will he be so kind 2 tell us when vodacom will begin data rollover??

+1, I would also like to hear that..........

Large corporations in SA...

Large corporations in SA (like vodacom) unfortunately uses their customers as toilet paper... now you can complain about that as much as you like - it won't make any difference...the only way to get some action is to actually stop using the bastards' services - unfortunately if there's no competition, you can well...ummm... basically do nothing.

And even if you were to stop using vodasuck, would you be any better off using mtn, or Cell crappy C?? I highly doubt it - our market needs to be opened to international competition, that'll be the ONLY way we will get reliable-, high quality-, low-cost-, -service, -power, -mobile, -broadband, -television, etc...

It's not the companies fault - would you be any different if you were them... It's the legislation that's wrong...If you had to fight to keep your customers, you would give them anything they want!

I've posted at length of this subject and the issues in buying bit rates and then selling it as fixed data chunks.

Have you read that and are you happy to accept the price increase data roll-over would bring?

What?

If posted at length of this subject and the issues in buying bit rates and then selling it as fixed data chunks.

If what?

Have you read that and are you happy to accept the price increase data roll-over would bring?

Why would there be price increases, I've never seen any options regarding it anywhere...

It all depends on how much more expensive it will be...we need to see some official numbers here.

Sorry, typo. Fixed.

Read the relevant posts on how data is bought and sold. It explains the pricing.

If the customers paid for the credit and then the network snatched it on the basis that it "expired", we can argue that the money was never theirs in the first place. Price increase or not, it should never have been set up this way.

I was expressing my opinion on Vodacom's new ad whereas Prom was trying to pass his opinion off as fact so where do you automagically see the connection between the two? :D

Edit: Oh, and I gave him choices. You basically shoved a job I don't have down my throat. :p

Why was this moved to a different sub forum? No one cares any more.

Anyway lost 1Gb last month.
We should take this matter to ICASA.

This thread has been in this forum for quite a few months.

This forum is neutral since this thread applies equally to MTN and Vodacom, and for that matter CellC as well.

@ic, I think it is time to close this thread because in all likelihood rollover will never materialise.
Ok, done.

If anyone wants it opened, p.m. me with your list of reasons for opening this thread.
Also uncapped would be so much better than rollover:D.
Yep, that was a given even before this thread existed, but it's about as likely as pigs flying ATM.
