Have been sharing the dstv in the same house and every couple of months the secondary decoder loses the settings and I have to get a guy in at R500 a pop.

I know the settings for the 2nd decoder are supposed to be:

Mode: 1 ignore
Mode 2 respond active
Mode 3 ignore
Legacy ignore
Tv link on
Rf port rf out

But I cannot get secondary decoder to work independently of the primary decoder.

I tried restarting both, still no luck. I think I'm missing one setting? Any advice or help please? So annoying don't want to fork the cash out again. Please help?

Maybe @Brian_G or who's very active in the DStv technical faults thread might have a solution that helps solve it for you, if / when he sees this.

Perhaps even @Ivan Leon ?

All I can offer as a "fall back" suggestion is if you can't get it sorted, then buying a set of the TV Link Eye contraptions applicable for your main decoder will allow switching channels etc in the 2nd bedroom.

I have that setup & it's acceptable, but obviously cannot watch 2 channels independently of each other, at the same time which is what I think you had, until the fault ?

Hi,

No idea what you mean here - surely not that both decoders appear to give the same output? If so your cabling / tuning is mixed up.
If you mean you want the secondary to work when the primary is off or disconnected from it, not possible with an XtraView setup.

I can't help more than that, suggest you phone the call centre and try get a human on the line, then ask for an XtraView specialist. They usually have to then phone back, hopefully they will..

They're both explora's. And it was working before. The dstv call centre couldn't help, a few hours down the drain. Ugh fml.

I agree with Brian. It is difficult to understand your problem from the information you are giving us. Those mode setting are basically to tell the decoder which remote to respond to. Perhaps you accidently changed the corresponding settings on the secondary remote.

Hi.

I cannot work out from the info provided exactly what the issue is you have.

So let us try and start again.

1. The decoders are both Exploras, but which models?
2. They are connected to a valid XV subscription?
3. Are they co-located in the same room or in two different places?
4. Do you have access to the Primary decoder to be able to see what the settings are on it?

Now back to the problem:

1. Are you able to access any channel at the moment at all, or is the decoder completely dead with no channel at all visible?
2. Is this just about the remote control settings that somehow have got messed up?
3. Are you able to control the decoder from the front panel buttons (assuming there are any of course).

If you don't take the time to address all our confusion / questions, nobody here will be able to help.
