hey all. i wanna build a HD video playback/EDITING compatible pc. i know that it would require a HD graphic card but im not sure what else? i'm gonna use 4GB DDR2 800 ram and a AMD Phenom x4 2.2Ghz CPU. would that have enough power? do i need a special motherboard for the editing? i would really appreciate all help/suggestions.

That should be fine, just make sure you get a decent graphics card. If you're going to convert from TV or other sources, get a decent TV card as well. The cheap ones don't really cut it (Pinnacle are quite good).

AMD has power but if you want fast encoding you should buy intel, i am not saying this as a fanboy but as a realist who has seen intel smashes AMD in that department.

You could wait til jan and see what the new amd cpu's can do though but i don't suggest buying amd now unless your on a tight budget.
