Ok, is it available in a pack or loose?

Also contemplating 50" plasma HD ready Samsung,PS50c430 so far, any suggestions?
loose....there is no 'baby HD decoder single LNB starter kit'...

had the PS42C450 for a day....I felt uneasy about a plasma....heavy/screen burn/hot/etc...even though I wanted a plasma from the start...

I swopped it out for a LCD....32 inch.....now that I've got the PS3, gaming is awesome and I don't worry so much when I'm on the phone with a friend and the game is static....

its your choice, the LCD has its flaws, but I find more benefits with the LCD...

ok so back home, set it all up. working great :D HD channels are nice, no recording.
multichoice call centre told me i have to pay the extra R65pm for HD channels 170/171/172 and pvr functionailty. 2 seperate call centre people confirmed this.
What do you guys say? should i just call in and tell em to unsubscribe me from the extra costs and see if I get the HD channels?

Yes, call back & get someone who know the charges
They do need to activate "HD access" on the decoder but there is no charge for this over & above the premium subs
The R65 is only for XV & PVR functions, basically access to more then 1 channel at a time

Can you reference this exact phrase to a document on the DSTV site, so we can point it to the call centre agents?

You guys make me go tomorrow and buy this damn decoder

Point 13, and also 12

13. What is the R65 access fee for?
The R65 access fee is charged to access multiple channels simultaneously (be this for viewing or recording).

Anyone know if you can get HD channels on the Daddy pvr with a single lnb installation?
Just the Hd channels, not recording purposes

Yes you can with a multi-switch (2x4/6)... Unfortunately all the HD channels are not in the same polarisation so you will have to keep switching between vertical & horizontal. You get some channels in V & other in H.

@ the graduate and WGS - I really like the the picture and colours on the 42C430 compared to the 32' Sony LED LCD that was next to it in the shop and wanted extra inputs that C450 has. Could not wait any longer for decent prices and ranges of panasonic plasmas, so I bought the 42C450 over the weekend. Mostly gonna use it for dvd rips, normal DVDs and SD dstv. I am very happy with it so far (the dvd rips from my ntfs HDD look stunning), and I still haven't connected anything via HDMI or component yet.

yes you can, I have the daddy Pace HD PVR, at the moement im running it off single LNB, and all the channels are working, there would really be a need for your swaping clables around, Tuner 1 carries all polarization.

I've done the installation with a splitter. Works well.

Bought a Ellies Splitter at Makro - R45
Bought 2 short Coaxial cables - R50

After the Installation I can do the following on the HD PVR:

1. View all channels including the HD channels.

2. Pause and rewind up to 2 hours.

3. Record most channels without problems. The only problem is when you want to record BBC Entertainment, E!, Crime and one or two others which are all on the Horizontal polarization. If you are watching Mnet and you set a record function on any channel on the vertical polarization (which is most channels) then it works like any PVR, perfect. If however you are watching Mnet and you set a record function on BBC Entertainment for example, then when the record kicks in, you lose the signal to Mnet and all vertical polarization channels and it records the BBC channel. When you stop the recording, then the signal comes back. The point to remember is that most channels are on the vertical polarization so the record function works mostly which is better than having no record function at all.

4. TV Guide works well past the first two shows so you can scroll well into the week to set your recordings.

Well worth setting it up this way if you want the PVR function.

If that's going to be your set up why not just buy the small one. It is cheaper and has better performance given a single lnb. You can't record with either and small is much cheaper. Unless you are planning on upgrading at a later point of course...
