HD PVR 2 P - single lnb installation

I just did. Tried the combinations you mentioned. Worked perfectly. So sorry to burst your bubble but check your facts next time.

It's impossible. I work for a supplier in the industry as system design and tech support. We supply Zakspeed, where you bought your magical splitter. It is impossible to record one polarity, while viewing another, through one cable (unless you have SatCR or a twin LNB with multiband converter). If you have found a way, we can make millions together.

Nobody attacked you, by the way and sorry to burst your bubble... again.

Wow. Ok. Well then I have accomplished the impossible. I stay in Waterstone Square in Century City and they do not have dual view installations over here and we are not allowed to have our own satellite installed. So explain to me how my PVR works as advertised and all I bought was that splitter? Before I bought that splitter, one channel always worked but others were very scrambled or didn't even receive picture and my recording was pathetic. I bought this splitter and bobs your uncle, everything worked as advertised. Please by all means get in touch with me and you are welcome to come take a look when I am home. You will see that I speak the truth.

See, that changes things. You have a Alcad single cable system installed at Waterstone (supplied by me FYI). There is some special electronics that makes this possible, but you have to add extra network settings to every decoder. You should have mentioned this earlier. Also, it will work with any normal satellite splitter. Don't know why Zakspeed sold you something that expensive...

I tried a normal satellite splitter and it didn't work. And Zakspeed. Never sold that one to me, I was told to go there by Audiovision and asked for it specifically. I have a normal splitter here as well and you can plug it in and it will not work. As I said, the minute I got this splitter, everything magically worked and I didn't change any settings in the decoder. The only settings I put in were the ones supplied when I moved it.

Well, as long as it works I guess... Don't have the willpower to debate this any further.

Try changing the RF output on the PVR to a different frequency. Why do you want to use RF? Rather use composite.

Hi Guys, and thanks to Tim for the input.
I would like to know: if i connect a single lnb to hdpvr 2 (stand alone or with splitter), will Dstv on demand work.
Bare in mind that this is a second/room decoder, i.e. connected via heartbeat.
I can run another cable from my 2x4 splitter, but dont really need to (plus its a big job).

Tried this solution and it works fine. Thanks. PVR works 100%, the only problem is that I dont get discovery HD and Mnet HD and a few other channels like E Entertainment and some BBC channels. Hoping to figure it out soon. Will play around with the settings.

Well, if you don't get all the channels, it does not work 100%. It never will... There will always be channels that you cannot record. To view everything, try swopping the 2 cables coming from the splitter around. At the moment, the DC pass line of the splitter must be going to input 2. This means the recording will dictate which polarity you can watch. If you swop it around, the viewing channel will dictate which polarity you can record. 99% sure this your problem.

Not as far as I know - if you have a single LNB/standalone (non-Sat CR), then on-demand doesn't work - my mom has this setup currently, and she cannot access on-demand. I'll be getting her either a dual LNB or a Sat CR LNB next week, and will see if this fixes the problem...

Thanks, will try this when I get home later today.

Just wanna thank all the contributors to this thread. Got an HD PVR2 recently and got quoted R3000 for the installation, since i'm in a complex and investigation would need to take place to ascertain the installation requirements.

Stumbled onto this thread and decided to do it myself, rather than fork out the cash.

Got a two splitter and two f-type cables and everything went really smoothly. Seems as if the cable coming from the communal dish was SATCR and i now have full PVR functionality.

A big thanks to all.

:)

Can't be SatCR. Could be single cable conversion system. Did you have to put extra frequency settings into your decoder? If not, you don't have full functionality... Try recording Animal Planet, while viewing MNet. Either your viewing or recording channel will fall over in these circumstances.

I stay in an old apartment block where we have a big communal dish and we all have mnet as part of our levies. I bought the 2p decoder on the weekend and used a splitter(non powered) from zakspeed to split signal. My guide works perfect and I can record live. However I can't view BBC E, 124, 172 and 174 (unable to locate signal). Is there any solution to this other than getting another cable to my apartment? Do I have to adjust network settings?

Depends on system installed... Is there an output on the splitter, that says "power pass"? Connect that to LNB input #1 on your decoder.

My money (while QT's is still in his pocket) would be that you need to enter network settings, check with the BC or neighbours. Once these are in you should have 100% functionality

Maybe it is time to ask for the name of the block... and the location. Willem?

It is Gravenhage in Otto Street Illovo, Sandton. I'll have a look at the splitter tonight and try again. There are just grannies in my apartment so I'm unsure whether they have PVR or perhaps they all have. Thanks

Will e-mail my colleagues in Randburg...
