I agree ..... and with their PS3, it has indeed been a successful strategy.Sony were almost solely responsible for the success of Blu-Ray.
So what was the point you tried to make with your betamax comparison??
I think the point to note here is that in the case of Betamax, the 'technology at the end of its lifecycle' resulted in you being unable to use the hardware you'd paid for since nobody was manufacturing the movies anymore.Wow.. you still don't get it - "Don't buy technology at the end of it's life cycle"
Would you want to be the guy still buying Betamax in 1990 let alone 2002?
Same goes for Plasma in 2010 - Backlit technology is changing the game plan
which is the only point I have trying to make.
no need to avoid buying them for now.
I have no idea what 'big pixels' you're referring to.OK... I'll leave you to your big pixels then![]()
My $0.02 worth...
I was gonna buy a plasma this weekend after all the stuff i read about SD being better on them. But yeah there is no chance i would ever buy it after viewing HD feeds on a HD ready plasma and HD ready LCD. The difference in picture is quite big. You can see the pixels and pixel edges a mile away on the plasma, especially if you look at logos on the displays, like the Supersport HD logo etc. The black did display better on the plasma yes but the overall picture quality is a million times better on LCD.
My 2c had a hd ready plasma and upgraded to a full hd lcd and i can notice a huge difference especially when playing ps3.
When are OLED displays hitting the market?
Closely followed by streaming media straight into your brain.Probably after the 3D craze...
The manufacturers are pacing themselves nicely. Plasma, LCD, Full HD, LED, 3D then maybe OLED...
