HD Voice Calls on Cell C

I have a Cell C sim, and have noticed recently that when making a voice call to another Cell C number, I get an HD icon/symbol appearing on my phone's calling screen.

Has Cell C perhaps launched High Definition voice calls on its 3G network ?

I don't have WiFi calling enabled nor am I connected to a WiFi network, and I get the HD icon / symbol on my phone when making voice calls to Cell C phone numbers.

Perhaps the Cell C rep can clarify if HD voice calling is enabled/active on the their 3G network ? ? ?

Hi @Porsche Driver

On Cellular calls, LTE hands over to 3G to make the call. The codec WB-AMR is allocated via our 3G networks to display the “HD Call”. It is available on most of our 3G network but it also limited depending channel resources.

Thank you for the reply.

Just a follow up question - is HD voice calling also applicable to calls made from Cell C to other mobile network phone numbers (eg. Vodacom, MTN), or are HD voice calls only available for Cell C to Cell C voice calls ?
