Hdmi cables not all the same lol?

I was under the impression expensive hdmi cables is a waste of money after checking reviews etc, as they pretty much all the same .

My hdmi cable failed on my tv, so I went and bought a new one.

This is the one I bought:

Low and behold I get no signal with the cable at all, so I guess its faulty?
But then tested it on 1080p display and it works!

Found a spare cable laying around and seems work on my tv? Came with an old graphics card.

Tv is connected to apple tv 4k, with dolby vision and dolby atmos active.

Guess I need to find a higher quality hdmi cable after all lol
 
HDMI cables have a bandwidth rating, you need to make sure it has enough bandwidth for the signal you're trying to pass through it.

"Ultra Premium" cables are basically snake oil though although you don't want to cheap out completely as the build quality can make a difference on longevity.

This, basically there are HDMI 1.4, 2 and 2.1 cables, their bandwidth ratings would matter. If it's listed as highspeed or not specified it would be HDMI 1.4. The HDMI 2 will say HDMI V2 or 4k60hz or such. The high speed ones are 10GB/s, the v2 are 18GB/s

That's the correct one yes, strangely enough I got my cables from Checkers

Works perfectly. They even had some cheaper 3m at one point.

Don't mean to hijack thread but, i recently acquired the 27inch checkers monitor for gaming on my PS4.. any idea if a better HDMI cable would make a difference at all...?

Use displayport on checkers monitor, this allow gsync to work

Yes they not all the same. If you want proper 4k get hdmi premium certified cable they not that much more expensive and then you can do 4k HDR. I've tested cheap and some apparently good cables and none worked. Plugged in Premium cable and it works. Can do 4k hdr.

PS4 doesn't have gsync so it's not needed.

Not really, most of the time the "cheap" ones are version 1.4 which is technically 4k but at 30fps. I bought a R89 cable from Checkers, it stated hdmi 2 and it works great. Not premium.
 
Slightly off topic but I want to mount my TV onto the wall and my TV has 3 HDMI in the back, what angle adaptors would I need if I were to use all 3 ports?

Should be sufficient clearance for the hdmi cable?
