Hi everyone,

Sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong forum, please bare with me.

I want to spilt my PS3 HDMI to 2 and my DSTV-HD to 2 also.

Where's the cheapest place to buy an HDMI Splitter and for how much?

Morning all. Please help
Have TV with 1 hdmi input, Want to connect, 1 x HD PVR, 1 x PS3, 1 x external drive with HDMI output, Got myself a HDMI splitter 4 in 1 out, I connect everything and HDMI splitter searches for input, finds the active input, Now the problem is as follows, If i use my external drive the tv screen flickers on and off and i need to pull hdmi cable from the hard drive and plug it back in and then the tv stops flickering and i then have picture, (no sound) also if HD pvr is used have picture but no sound, PS3 also has picture but no sound,? sorry but forgot the name of the splitter. Is the splitter unit faulty or what would you suggest as a alternative,

I use HDMI for my cable box, and if I were you, I would opt for the HDMI switcher as opposed to using component. But that is just me. The EXT-HDMI1.3-142 splitter is fully compliant with HDMI 1.3 and is able to pass all lossless audio formats of HDMI while simultaneously maintaining unaltered high-definition video.

It sounds like your splitter may not be "active" and the signal isn't coming through strong enough initially.

www.avsupply.co.za lol... I see someone beat me to it...

www.hdcabling.co.za is the best place to get these locally.

Just make sure you understand the difference between splitting an OUTPUT into many INPUTS (1 PS3 into 2 TV's)

vs

Creating Many INPUTS from a single HDMI Port (TV with 1 HDMI port but you have 4 devices).

mmmm, they were the only company that I could find that could supply me with an HDMI matrix 4x2 with IR remote control at a good price. R1250 in think.
Works like a charm. Now I can watch any 4 hdmi sources in two locations at the same time.

For sure but look at the price differences between the two sites

3 port HDMI splitter on HDCabling - R269

Exact same 3 port HDMI splitter on AVSupply - R125 (LESS THAN HALF)

Was wondering about these devices the other day, would one be able to split the signal from a device (e.g. DSTV decoder) to 2x TVs over a distance (100m via cat6) with one of these devices: http://www.gmaxtech.com/product/hdmi/HM-ET01/HM-ET01.htm and has anyone seen these locally?

It says it has IR support build in, sounds good, not sure how it would work.

Edit: NVM: http://www.hdcabling.co.za/2d-or-3d...-50m-1080p-100m-720p-1080i-hdcp-12-p-377.html

But how do you input/output IR?

HDPVR to 2 locations is possible with an HDMI splitter / extender combination, or for the ultimate use a 4 x4 HDMI Matrix Splitter over Cat 5e/6. It allows you to distribute 4 devices to 4 locations around the house

These guys have an AV distribution section, maybe start there?

Thanks,

the short:
I don't need it myself, was just wondered about it because many people have that one extra TV up stairs in the bedroom...

the long:
I was at a Chinese expo last year and came across these guys www.gmaxtech.com we are a distributor but this isn't our field, they send me a link to this and got me wondering if it would be worth bringing in...

Seems there are already plenty of these products around.

No problem.

That Gmax product uses HDBaseT so is pretty cool
