Headset Suggestions

Looks good i must say but 2 questions.
I see its "open headphones" doesnt this get irritating hearing everything around u as this doesnt block out background sounds?

Because its a gaming headset how would the bass be for these ones when listening to music?

I do believe these ones are great tho just want to make sure :)

Thanks

Closed headsets were designed to prevent bleeding in studio environments that result in feedback.

Open headphones are the healthiest for your ears as they tend to have less compression on your ear drums.

True I dont want to be deaf by the time i got my awesome pc :p
games without sound is not cool.

I have been searching around and everything points back to the logitech ones discussed earlier. Logitech is a good brand and these ones arent too expensive.

Cool, I doubt you'll regret buying the Logitech headset :)

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
The Logitech Headset sucks!!!

Get the 5.1 surround-sound Zalman's... (Just buy the version with the mic)
Zalman 5.1 Surround HS with Mic - R418(Sybaritic)

They're VERY comfortable, has good bass, and they're 5.1 surround-sound, GREAT for online gaming!

If you want to say something sucks at least explain a bit rather than just saying something sucks

These headphones are great and have greatly enhanced my gaming experience in games such as Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty 2, without annoying the rest of the family when I play late at night.

The surround sound works beautifully, especially with a decent soundcard. The headphones are also very comfortable and well constructed.

Just a word of WARNING, these earphones do not work well without amplification. I purchased them expecting to get loud booming base, but instead all I got was a whisper. I turned my PC sound up to it max and could barely hear what was going on with games and movies.

There is a reason why Zalman also sell a headphone amplifier, PC sound cards are simply incapable of providing enough juice to drive these headphones properly. I have subsequently purchased the Zalman amp which made a huge difference, but did cost an extra +- R500.

My advice to you is spend R1200 and buy both the amp and headphones or don’t bother at all. Also don’t be to surprised if you use onboard sound and the surround effect is not as pronounced as you thought it would be.

Sorry :p
It's because I've had two sets break down on me!!
Last time it happened someone suggested the Zalman's, and I must say that comparing the two, there really is no comparison. And without the Zalman amp, IMO the bass is still better than that of the Logitech's.

Also : the Zalman's are very comfortable, and fits over your whole ear, whereas the Logitech's are a lot smaller, and you kinda stick your ear through them :)
So : If you don't want to hear anything other than your sound, opt for the Zalman's.

Logitech is a company that's got GREAT products, but we're yet to see really good gaming grade headsets from them.

If you're looking for a good GAMING headset, read through what our COD2 community had to say on the subject :
COD2 - Which Headset??

They discussed the
*Logitech Precision
*Medusa 5.1
*Zalman 5.1
*Sennheisser PC160
*IceMat Black Siberia
*Razer Baracuda

Out of all the mentioned sets, the guys rate the Sennheiser PC160's to be the best, but they're +-R1200
The Medusa's are also considered to be excellent.

Ok so like i finally got myself a set of headphones :P
I got the Tritton AXPC Gaming Headphones.
http://www.trittonusa.com/products/TRIUA512.htm

5.1 surround wow for gaming and movies, sounds awesome.
Bit pricey though i had to fork out R800 for them.
I am disappointed with the bass though.
I set the bass up to 10 on the volume control and i get sum bit of vibrations and sum bass but noooo this is not right for having 4 speakers on each side of my ear lol.

Does anyone know these headphones and how I could improve the bass on them?
Its a USB headset, would a better sound card help as I'm using my on board at the moment?

Thx :)
