Headunit Opinions

that looks awesome. prolly over R2k for that.

I seem to recall it being within the R2k budget fitted. Unless I'm confusing it with something else.

You can take calls handsfree, and keep your music collection with you all the time, on your phone. (has A2DP)

4 times a month ? A radio in your car?

My personal favourite are the Kenwood headunits. Have a look at this one: http://www.autostyle.co.za/product/19162/KenwoodKDCMP543UMp3USBFrontLoader/

I am upgrading my Sony GT270 to a higher end Kenwood within the next few weeks.

I prefer a headunit for a rear USB connector. This way you don't have a nasty looking stick sticking out of your headunit. And you can hook up an external harddrive to it and have it lay in the cubby hole.

Personally I don't like Sony for anything car sound related.

I've had a Sony radio, Pioneer and JVC so far. Alpine doesn't justify the price, you just don't get enough features compared to other radios, I don't care how good the pre-amp outputs are, if I'm paying R1 000 more and I don't even have Bluetooth and USB then it's a rip off.

So the radios I've owned out of the 3 I mentioned above, all were in the top 3 best radios they made for single DIN. None cheaper than R 2 000, closer to the R 3000 bracket.

First was a Sony, thought it was pretty awesome until I got the JVC, which by far is the best radio I've owned so far, every single setting was customizable so I could set it exactly how I wanted, now I've got a Pioneer, which I'll be selling soon to go back to JVC.

In terms of pre-outputs I also found the JVC the best out of the 3 but my friend had a pretty expensive Pioneer (Premier) that was better, my current Pioneer Radio is not one of the premier models so it's outputs really aren't anything better than standard.

Then in terms of features like Bluetooth and USB nothing beat my JVC, I could set the colour of the interface, how dim it should be when the lights are on and how the colour should, how the text should scroll, how long the text should stay, EVERYTHING, anything could be customized!

Whereas the Pioneer is a little POS compared to that radio, lots of things can't be customized. I really don't understand why.

Once you've had all the customization you can't go without it! And I even miss simple things like dimming when I turn on the lights. Best bet is to go into the store and see how the radio compares when you use it to the others.
