Healer

From the 3.0.2 Patch notes for Druids:
Tree of Life (Restoration): You can now cast all Restoration spells (Healing Touch) in the form, but Tree of Life now only reduces the mana cost of your healing over time spells (Rejuvenation, Lifebloom, Regrowth and Flourish) by 20%.

Remove Curse can also be used in ToL form.

Druids also got Revive, another resurrection spell that can be only be used out of combat, but it has no cooldown, so it's now possible to restore an entire raid from a near-wipe. And druids still have their old res spell (can't remember the name) that can be used in combat.

And if you have Herbalism, you get the Lifeblood healing ability, which you can cast without having to change from cat or bear form :D

druids ftw!

I can't wait till I'm level 80 so that I can respec and uber heal yo momma

Well i really enjoy my pala.
With the new changes it is also a lot mroe than 2 buttons.
Basically you have to have a seal up at all times, judge every 20 seconds.
When you judge it heals all melee attackers on the target and also increases your haste by 10%.
Then Lay on Hands is much shorter CD and actually gives mana back now with Glyphs.
Then there is Beacon of Light. Very situational but is pretty cool.
You can heal 2 tanks at once for a minute.
Still want to check out holy shock, you can do some pretty wicked crit combo with it.

What i enjoy about pala is that there is no real heal rotation.
You basically spam FoL and have to react quickly if the situation calls for it.

From my experience a paladin is the most boring char to level and second in line is a priest... while it might be true they might be fun end game but they hell of a bore to level.

A druid is one of the most fun characters to play, that will be my first choice, I haven't played a shaman but im sure it beats a priest/pala

If you have any intent on raiding and other such endgame odds are you're going to spend more time at 70 than you spent getting TO 70. As such, picking a healer toon that's easy/fun to level, is a mistake, imo. One I made, so take it from me.

Priest and pala are far from boring if specced correctly ;)

I've lvl'd both a Shaman and a Palla to 70 and the Shaman was a breeze to lvl. Haven't healed with a Pala since the patch so cannot comment on that and is still Enhancement spec on the Shammy so cannot help you out much there either. But lvl'ing a Shaman was much more fun than the Pally.

Actually the druid was easy enough to lvl, maybe not faster than lvling my hunter but mobs died quickly and stealth got me away from gankers more than once (loads of fun watching a 70 run around in circles looking for you). :D

Couple of thoughts on healers.

My main is a holy priest, been playing her almost exclusively the past 6-8 months, cleared ZA with her (pre 3.0.2), and will definitely be levelling her as my main in WotLK with a view to healing Naxx. I levelled her as shadow, even easier nowadays with the levelling boost between 60-70, and I also healed all the normal outland instances on my way, pickup some good decent healing gear (well it's all spellpower nowadays, so really not an issue) and off you go, 99% of all PUG's won't even realise you're shadow spec if you do a good job.

Right now she is deep holy, but is also incredibly versatile, capable of single target healing (would be even better with a deep disc build), and her raid healing is phenomenal, nowadays when we do Kara zergs for badges I can easily solo-heal it. To me priests (especially when the dual spec hits) are the ultimate in healing versatility, very flexible in all respects.

My resto shaman will probably swap to elemental, and I'll take stock at 80 and see how things go, I might spec her back to resto and have the best of all worlds in terms of healing :).

My druid is feral at the mo, I must admit I have not tried resto since 3.0.2, but by all accounts druids have gained some impressive raid healing ability while remaining the masters of the HOT, although my priests glyphed renew ticks for around 1300 raid-buffed and is pretty imba in its own right.

In terms of levelling, all were fun to level, priest levelled as shadow, shaman levelled enh and then ele, but hands-down the most fun to level was the druid. Memories of healing stratholme pre-tbc as feral, that was fun :)

Can't get my head around paladins, got one to 32 once, but it was just boring to level :/.

Anyway too much waffle, I think all healers are effective in endgame, some are more flexible (priests) while others are incredibly efficient at a niche role (pallies and single target healing) but might struggle a bit in others.

Druids are the easiest to lvl imo. You can spec feral up until end game, and you can still do a lot of dungeons because you can tank.

I've levelled a paladin, but I had to lvl him up with a friend. I was holy for pretty much the entire outlands experience. I've gotten further into the endgame with my paladin than with druid.

I'm stuck on lvl 49 on my priest, and lvl 47 on my shaman. I've spec them both shadow & enhancement respectively. I just don't have enough time to lvl them up.. as I'm also working on a lvl 56 arcane mage... and trying to unlock achievements on my mains.

Speaking from Bc experience

Healer levelling ease:
Druid>Shaman>Paladin>Priest
Druids simply have all the options. DPS, tanking, stealth, roots, self healing, you name it. there was rarely a time on my druid i felt in danger, even against gankers i could hot, root(if not a skull), cat, sprint, stealth.

However, for endgame usefulness
Shaman>Priest>Paladin>Druid

I found we never really wanted more than one druid ToL in a raid. they were nice to keep hots up on the tanks, but they were trumped by shammies for raidhealing and trumped by pallies/priests for tank healing. Most raiding druids in BC found themselves being the token hot bot.

This will probably change around in WotLK. I reckon with the spellpower changes, priests will be able to level pretty effectively as shadow and even as Disc or lolsmite. And of course at 80 I think they'll be #1 again ,followed by the other 3.

<3 Palas

My main is a holy Pala (noob specced atm cos I wasnt paying attention when I talented :p)

She raids endgame altho I am still trying to get my head around the new spells, but she has mostly been a FoL spambot... now she judges inbetween :p In fact I have more offspec BT gear than I do main spec (less dkp) so I may well go Ret for a bit just to have some fun there.

I dont have a priest, dunno if I will ever make one tbh, but I haz a huntard and drood @ 70 also, who are also raiding since the nerf. I loves my kitty loads, but the one time I tried healing in kara on the drood (pre-patch) I was in constant panic due to the lack of a direct heal (like my palas). Havent tried again as its too much stress panicing over HoTs ;)

Drood was by far the most fun to level, but the hunter was fastest. But if you take the time to level a pala, they will always have a special place in your heart

I'm thinking of leveling my Druid :D Sounds like more fun.

How is druid tanking end game? Maybe I'll change my mind ^^
