So - I started gym with a personal trainer to get me motivated, nothing like paying someone to get you going.

A fitness assessment was done about two weeks ago and I got the results today - seriously depressing. You can watch yourself go in the mirror, and because you see yourself everyday, you don't realize how bad its getting.

I went from very low body fat, between a constant 8-12% to a now ashamedly 32.5% in two years.

I guess its a challenge for the year to keep me entertained.

True, that is why, when we see someone again after a few years, we say "he lost/gained a lot of weight" or "he aged a lot"- difficult to see it while it's happening.

I left for the uk at 69kg and 6% body fat, came back at 88kg's. This was in a 1 yr period...
it happens and it happens quickly, but its also awesome when u start getting back into shape. And you are going to be less likely to let it slip that fast again....

At least u have a trainer to motivate you....

I know - I'm just sad I let work get in the way of a healthy body - I should of realized when I was always panting at the top of the office stair case.

All the tests he did on me = fail. Only one I came out on top was leg pressing more than double my body weight.... EVERYTHING else was below average.

Yeh, I left around 86kg (can't recall, its on the forum somewhere), when the personal trainer weighed me, 115kg :(

It seems most people who go to Europe for an extended period of time, return (much) heavier.

Why is that? Weather? Comfort eating? Homesickness?

I spent 6 months in 2004 touring Europe and I gained weight too.

I'm sure it must be a little of both. When you are home sick you are more inclined to eat as a way to comfort yourself. Secondly, it's so blady cold in Europe all you wanna do is eat. When winter hits in SA i can't seem to stop eating. I'm not sure if it's the cold or if it's boredom. Probably both. :)

I'm always nice and skinny when i'm missrable.....
Happyness walked into my life i gained 18 kg.... in about a year.

But i'm working on it. And have lost 4kgs very slow and fustrating but yeah...

Going to the US is the fastest way to gain weight in my experience :D. rapid, don't worry about it. You have to start somewhere and at least you're doing something about it now. There's no point feeling miserable about your condition, just fix it. Getting in shape is actually not all that difficult. Cut down on food, exercise regularly, et voila!

Yea kudos to you for taking the first step. Most people don't even get that far. :)

That explains to you why the ultra-skinny women are bitches and the curvaceous ones are nice :)

I went to Australia.

Oh well, nothing like giving someone money to keep you motivated...
