Heart Rate

If I get a reminder for every above 100 bpm heart rate when I am out cycling, my Garmin's battery would probably not last long since it would have to give constant notifications.

On topic, I was pretty ill last night - like terrible. It felt like COVID all over again.

I’m thinking that my heart rate was elevated due to that and I’ll monitor in the week

Usually when my heart rate is hovers over 90 for extended times it means that I'm about to get a cold or flu.

There was one time were my heart rate was over 90 for an extended time, took me a few days to realise it was the giant pimple I had on my ass crack that was causing it.

Once that cleared up I returned to bassline

It’s not during an activity. The warning is high heart rate - but when not active for 10 minutes.

In other words when high rate when it shouldn’t be

Did you stab it or just straight squeeze?

The heart rate which is set as a standard on the Garmin watches is way too low at 100bpm. Normal activity for a normal person will surpass that quite easily. I am not sure which watch you have but I have the Garmin Venu sq. To change the heart rate setting (on my watch) hold in the bottom button, scroll down to the settings cog and tap, scroll down to wrist heart rate and tap, abnormal heart rate and tap. You can change the high and low warnings in here. Hope it helps

For maximum heart rate conditions you should just subtract your age from 220 and that is the dangerous level for your heart rate. Resting heart rate for normal people over 16 can reach up to 100. For people who exercise a lot then it's usually about 30 to 60 BPM resting.

Why did you grow a boil on your ass?

And yet you charge it every day and manage to have it always working. Strange that you can't do that with a smart watch? Put it on charge every night just like your phone? It should have a lot more smart functions than a sports watch?
Why are you fighting? You’re gonna raise Dolby’s heart rate. Choose your battles, man.

My normal resting heart rate is about 60. Up to 80-100 the past few days because I’m sick.

That’s a pretty ‘good’ excuse for the abysmal battery life of an Apple Watch :)

‘The battery is enough!’

I mean we may as well just stop trying to get the best battery life on all our mobile devices and call it a day. Who needs progression in life anyway ;)

So here is the other thing :

My resting heart rate is low but it seems to be when I’m sleeping. It’s sub 70.

Sub 70 is not really low.

I am not as fit as I want to be and my resting heart rate is low 50s, average around 53 per week.
When I am fitter it drops below 50.

It can easily go higher than 100 while doing very little if you are in a stressful meeting as example, especially starting from a resting rate of sub 70 (which I assume to be between 65 and 70?).

If you really want to test with your watch get a chest strap if your watch supports that, it is more accurate than the wrist sensor.
Having said that, even with the wrist sensor one can get a fair idea of your health over time.
I can see if my resting heart rate goes up it is an indication of either added work stress or I might be getting sick.
Early 2020 I had 2 small heart attacks, in hindsight my resting heart rate showed a build up to it (work was really very stressful at the time) - Last year when I had Covid my heart rate was also a waring before I got really sick.

Interesting to monitor but do not allow it to become part of the problem.

Get a checkup to be sure, then at least you know.
Then get more active to get that resting heart rate down - not sure how old you are but I have a feeling you are at least a decade if not two younger than me, and to me your resting heart rate is way too high.

All just my opinion as a novice who has been tracking mine for years with wrist and chest sensors for training and just because I like tech purposes using Polar and Garmin over the time.

Edit: Apologies if my posts in the Apple threads contributed... taking note to tone it down... :giggle:
