Yep, try removing the side and watch the temps for 10min at least.
Having a side fan with no exhaust means that air is being pulled in and then being forced out through gaps between the panels and through the PSU (they tend to have exhaust fans).
edit: This means that the air often flows out far slower than the air which is flowing in. That would lead to air circulating longer in the case and warming up more, which means that the hot components are not cooled well
I would suggest that you check your air-flow (cables, etc) and add at least an exhaust fan, since even older cases should have a fitting to mount an 80mm fan in.
Gut-feel makes me suspect the heatsink the most, although if both your CPU and motherboard are so hot, then it may just mean that your case does need better air-flow.
