Friday... suppose to be a fun day since there's great summers weekend lying ahead. Nice weather, nice new titles released I can try and well... would want to play online.

But wait... we're dealing with the bunch of gold digging retards we like to call Telkom. I ordered my Telkom 4mb line last month . Everything went smooth and so it worked for a while. But yesterday my line just got cut. I make the effort to go register online so I can view my bill online (since I haven't even received the bill in the mail), and see that my account is R1170 for the month of November. My October account was fully paid.

Before I actually got to the person who could help me, I was transfered to the Internal legal department and then to an external one. They told me that I need to call Telkom again - Blood boiling levels at high!

When I queried why it got cut, they tell me that even though I only have to pay on the 19th Nov, I have gone over my R700 credit limit - so they cut the line.

What utter bullsh1t! I'm just ranting here cause I feel like I've been F'd in the A!

Thanx Telkom for screwing up my weekend!

The fact is that I have till the 19th of Nov to pay, the bill I haven't even received yet. You people are getting used to the fact that Telkom is screwing people, so you just except it!

You sound like the Telkom reps

um, you should pay your bills.

He did. Telkom place these limits on their lines to prevent people from using their service too much. In his case it is R700. So if you order a 4MB ADSL line, you will be automatically over the limit, hence the cut.

Then you should have the limit increased. It's just some paperwork. Why do people whine when they don't have their own paperwork in order. I am sure Telkom would love to take more money from you... but maybe you don't qualify for a bigger credit limit?

Since I am over the creditlimit already it cant just be increased - I first have to pay first. The whole creditlimit is a joke... They don't do any credit checks anyway, so it shouldn't
even be called a credit limit.

If I use R1500 W&E I get a bill with a due date. I have so many days to pay for the service I used. They don't just cut it off and say... "Um listen, we think you spent too much".

Our internet access is already alot of money - which in the end I'm dont mind paying. The least they can do is get their service on par. A simple example would've been for the system, which so happy and eagerly accepts you for the next product, to flag the account that the salesrep can tell me there are going to be problems for whatever reason. In my case I could've just upped my creditlimit while ordering it. But they rather have unhappy customers.

When signing up with Telkom one of the steps in the process is for them to do a credit check on you, and determine your "credit limit". They specifically tell you what this amount is before you can complete the order.
Telkom shouldnt allow someone with a R700 credit limit to order services that cost more than that in the first place.
I suggest you phone Telkom and ask them to increase your credit limit, else you are going to have this problem every month.

Or downgrade to a cheaper line?

Why does it mean so much to the people who try and be funny against other peoples problems. If you dont have something constructive to reply about, then dont, its all good and well to joke around, but atleast help at the same time.

I'm sure the poster is smarter than most people about paying his bills, he hits a slight bump and comes here for a little help only to achieve very little with some, he gets more complaints against him than the one he came here with.
Give the dudes a break, they might advise you one day with thier own information when you need help.
Its true what he says about telkom's service and that people are so used to it they now let it slide. Its people like you that make telkom mostly what it is. Makes life easy for telkom, why would they change something when everyone is more than happy to be spoon fed by them.
If there is a problem bitch and moan until you get it sorted out,

I had a similer problem where my bill ended up R1700 all i had was a line with 384kb adsl, i did'nt even use the phone. I cancelled it and was still charged a few months after that even though my account was closed. I told them to go get screwed,, and i hav'nt heard from them in over a year now.
I think the best option for you when it comes to dealing with telkom, is to take the time and find someone you can talk to that side, keep thier name so that when you phone in again you speak with the same person. That way maybe something can work.
