err, how is that anything close to the definition of naive dude ? :P

Whatever, clearly not dealing with people that are capable of thinking for themselves, jump back on your band wagon and keep rolling.

pls dont get me wrong you must have misunderstood me
like i said before just my 2cents
its obvious that you needed transparency etc, like you said
i was speaking generally my response was not directed to u at all

i did not expect any response especially one telling me not to be naive
anyway no hard feelings

This thread is a waste of time and is going nowhere. The site says what will happen with the funds.

At the moment the money is in its own bank account just in case things do hit the fan, and if something does happen with the money, a message will be put up on the site. This might as well be deleted, its as pointless as the new R5 coin.

I don't think the question was pointless but everything after the reply was just a whole lot of hot air... Could've been very simple; ask a question and answer a question.

Thats what I thought HillBilly, instead there were some rather stupid comments akin to "shut up and dont ask"

I'm sure we all trust MaD to do the right thing. And I'm sure he'll let everyone know once the money has been spent. In the meatime the threat has not gone away. Until Telkom/Adams & Adams sends him another email saying "soory baas" I think the money should earn interest in the trust account.

I'm not sure who died and made you king? Not to prolong this stupidity at all, but I really think this attitude is quite appalling. How dare you dictate that threads be locked, you wish to silence my comments? Is that the freedom of speech that this forum promotes? That isn't the goal that I remember when it was created in 2003 (when I joined)

I can seriously suggest that people here adjust their attitude, there are ways to do things, and there are ways not to do things.

I'm actually personally insulted by the tone and attitude that has been supported in the replies to this thread. Think before you post, and watch your mouth before you destroy any more credibility of this site that RPM has worked hard to build.

Can you 'tards imagine what hellkom has cost telkom is negative publicity? In money terms it's hard to qauntifiy but it must run into tens of millions at least.

I consider my R150 well invested [8D]

So stop whining like little snotty nosed brats and see the bigger picture.

I don't imagine that has too much effect on a company in a position like Telkom.

unfortunatelly I'll have to agree with mithrandi .. I think anything that the visitors to hellkom and the x number of pple from this forum may do will just be like a 'pimple on your butt' - just irritating.

Both hellkom and this forum have definately raised awareness of the problem and have given it's users and visitors insight and plenty of information, but I doubt that any of the telkom management are losing sleep over the efforts here. Also it's not always good to rely on bad media, as tomorrow there will be a new drug bust or some political scandal and people will once again refocus their attention.

The bottom line is that this is definately a good start however until there is a solid, stable and affordable alernative to telkom our 'crusade' will go mostly unnoticed.

Hi Blobnow and others

It is tricky to argue what influence a site or initiative might have on a large company, but it is not always simply negligible because we do not see immediate drastic changes. These companies move slowly and if one can simply change their direction (in this case to a more customer focused company) it pays off in their future decision-making. Another argument for such initiatives (and why certain managers will lose a great deal of sleep over it!) is that some managerial performance bonuses are calculated in relation to customer satisfaction. This might include media articles and other public campaigns. Since these guys might lose money, they will put pressure on other departments to make changes to satisfy customers etc.. I am certain you can extrapolate from here. To see the organization as one large organism makes it seem invincible, but it is still made up of individual decision makers and policy writers… An interesting debate will be what the most effective way is to negotiate with such a large company…anybody have knowledge in this field?

Regards,

RPM

rpm: so you mean that our friendly Telkom CEO will no longer get his 8.5mil bonus but only 7mil next year .. OH NO .. say it isn't so [;)]

I would agree with you though .. and using my pimple analagy ... if they get enough pimples I guess they might just go out and get a pimple cream ... ok maybe that's a bad analagy ... but it's 1AM ... so let me end of by saying ...

Viva pimple viva ... "Power to the pimples"

Seconded!!!!! [:D]

Just reading through this post, I can't believe how you guys have flamed Karnaugh for asking where the money went? Its a perfectly reasonable question. If he (lets say) donated money to the cause, I think he deserves to know where his money has gone? MaD, I am really proud of what you have done with hellkom etc. and I applaud you to keep up the good work, but how can you respond to one of your donors like this? They surely deserve more respect? If the money is being held in the bank until things "hit the fan", then that's all you have to tell them. If it has been donated to a charity, then I think they should be informed of that aswell. I dont see why this post was "as pointless as the new R5 coin".
You guys caused a stir over nothing.

Thanks to everyone for the support, its much appreciated. I would reply to this thread with quotes, analogies and examples about everything which went wrong in it but to tell you the honest truth, I just don't have the energy. My time has been consumed by the Hellkom site to an incredible degree - if people like it, great, if the dont like it, great. I couldnt care anymore but I have made the site as much an informational resource as possible and will try to continue to do so. This thread started off fine until things were taken personally. I'm not in the habit of keeping my mouth shut about things, the Hellkom site is an example of that. When people insinuate possible abuse of their money which they have entrusted me with any normal person would become upset. If someone is worried about their donated money they shouldn't donate in the first place.

Starting a thread entitled such as this one is - don't you think it's asking for it though? I've had enough of this thread and will not be replying to it again, its a waste of time, the answer is known: The money is in a bank account which Andrew from Telkomsucks is looking after.

Cheers.
