Hellmann's - What junk is this?

I miss the Crosse & Blackwell tangy mayo... all I have in the UK is Heinz and Hellmans.
See if you can find a local South African store or butchery. They tend to stock it.

For whatever reason it seems impossible to find online any more.

We stop by one called Afribox, in Taunton, which always has stock.

But yep, Crosse & Blackwell is still the best mayo, and one of a kind.

I can't find the container I use to make my homemade mayo with the hand blender, as I type that out I realised that I can just make it in a coffee mug instead.

I do believe the ones that say mayonnaise do in fact contain egg so it qualifies as the real thing.

But they have the Trim range that is pure salad cream yes.
The aforementioned Heinz salad cream contains egg.

Until I travelled I assumed that all mayonnaise was much like the local Crosse & Blackwell I'd grown up with in SA - a tangy creamy sauce.

First encounter with "foreign" mayonnaise was in France. I found it not just disappointingly bland but slightly revolting, and didn't hesitate saying so. It didn't take long for them to educate me that their stuff was "genuine mayonnaise" and that the stuff we South Africans call mayonnaise wouldn't qualify as mayonnaise in France. Nor in much of the world, including the USA, I've since learned.

It's on that same trip that I learned the Spar supermarket brand wasn't South African as I'd just assumed, and that no-one else knew what an erraplane was.

I also don't know what an erraplane is

Yup, now it's fancy in real glass
Upper class mayo

First you came with the ‘culture‘ myth, now it is ’class’.

Sorted your culture out already, as for class, the last class you had was when you left school after standard 8.

Give it up now, you are talking about white sludge in a bottle, nothing anyone says or does can turn it into anything decent.

What is the difference between Hellmann's Mayo Original (394g) and Real (400g)?

Never ever had Hellmann's Mayo in the past, but bought the former a few days ago and I can't get enough of it, it is delicious!
