Wow I finally managed to get this working :D

I only have 1 small problem. Don't know how many of you guys have been getting a hackintosh working. My PS/2keyboard does not pick up unless I unplug and replug it. Might just get a usb keyboard at work tomorrow.

Anyways the best version I found to work on my Gigabyte board was IATKOS S3 v2
O and have to get a DSDT.aml for my board. On install I hade to change kernel from the default option to a quoops 1.0.3.0 to be able to boot into Mac OS X...

Small question.. Can anyone suggest any nice programs I can download for this..

I might use this for all my internet browsing purposes and my Windows for all other fun stuff like gaming...

Edit:
Ok found codecs for movies
Perian - > http://www.perian.org/

Cool. What's your specs? I'd recommend Adium for chatting, Perian to play videos, iLife is cool and iWork.

pics please?

EDIT: i had my hackintosh running with the retail version of Snow Leopard using a Boot emulator, now if i can just remember what its called...

i used iBoot + MultiBeast - with retail Snow Leopard disc

Cool. The Pentium D is why you need the Qoopz kernel. Luckily your system is very upgradeable, if you ever upgrade to Core 2 Duo/quad, you can run vanilla kernel and get a huge speed boost too!

Check out iusethis (OS X) Mac Appstorm for some cool Mac apps. Enjoy!

Congrats -was heading hackintosh way for a try also but my GFX/GPU don't look like it will work properly (ATI Mobility 4650).
Ended up installing Snow Leopard on a VM for a look & decided Macbuntu is a fresh enough change anyhow.
Now just have dual boot Win7/Macbuntu

Yeah running Snow Leopard in VMWare is the best, no need to find hacked drivers or anything, stuff just works :)

Yeah but do you have full graphics acceleration, as in Quartz Extreme and Core Image? Because without that many apps don't work.

Like me, he wouldn't get that GFX in his sig working anyway would he?
VMware tools did seem to correct the screen res issues but like you say no QE/CI.
I didn't need Apple specific apps for any reason so for me thats why the Macbuntu option works better - everything works.
Some screen shots of Macbuntu appearance here if anyones interested: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/macbuntu.html

that looks sweet! from looking at the dock, does it actually have the apps??

if i have an MBP is it likely I only have a single license?

I remember briefly reading up on Hackintosh some couple of years ago but thinking it seemed like a bit of work. Might actually check it out for my PC if it doesn't violate my licence numbers on my SL.

Yes, unless you bought something like the family pack.

Does MacOS require activation like windows?

Nope I used iATKOS S3 v2 works like a dream, no activation as far as I have seen. Not sure about retail discs if they need activation, but I also don't think so.
O yeah installed iLife 2011 last night, damm that Garageband App looks sweeeeeeeet!!! No if only I was more creative to make some cool songs on there...

This whole plan behind my hackintosh, was to learn a little bit more about the operating system, cause the company I work for "We don't support / don't supply" anything Mac related..
So I was somewhat of a noob.. I wanted to learn a little more and was curious about it..

Now I am actually starting to enjoy it. Still won't fully trade my Windows 7 + gaming setup for Mac.. But must say I am really suprised at how easy it is to use after only a few days..

I have tried more than 10 different versions of Linux and really did not enjoy any of them much..
So +1 for Mac

Yeah it does take a while to learn and get used to Mac.

There is no activation or serial numbers or anything with Snow Leopard.
