HelloPeter under fire

I see there are only 868 companies 'that respond' (pay the extortion fee). This means the vast majority of businesses simply give hellopeter the finger.
Sit and swivel, Peter.

They actually give their complainants the finger and if the complainants are any wiser they should go to the competition - that's what I do any time some company messes me around.

I only get the opportunity to get onto my pc @ nite so logging a complaint in itself is a effort 4 me. TX to Hello Peter,
since I logged my Discovery claim - non-payment issue, I had a response from Discovery :) ... needless to say Discovery STILL hasnt coughed up, even though I have every right to this claim !!!
We need more HelloPeter websites ! Bad service should simply not be excepted !!

Actually, the umbudsman should be more active, approachable and damn well better staffed.

I personally know of someone who had a complaint laid against his company on hellopeter.com which was totally unfounded.
You know ... those types of customers who will rant and shout at a waitress because their coffee was only 65 degrees Celsius instead of 70 or because their salad had 5% too little feta cheese in it.

It's obvious to the level-headed reader which complaints are unfounded hand waving and which aren't.

On the other hand, if you were in a German restaurant for example they'd take your complaint about the 5 degree variation in your coffee extremely seriously.

South African's really are too used to pathetic service.

I think hellopeter is a great platform to voice one's opinions. I'm about to place my opinion regarding unsatisfactory service from a company that seems to have caught far to many people in its fraudulent marketing chain. Currently I see no other posts made in this field. Obviously its not a money making scheme if majority of the complaints are the same that can be found here on my broadband.

I recognise all the problems faced by Telkom, Vodacon etc clients. As well as Hi Fi corporation. And its good to have a medium to let the consumer become aware of before they sign any contract with these companies.

I've used the HP site quite a few times for complaints, and given compliments as well, where due. I tend to use it rather than trying the relevant company's call centre or website 'contact' section, as with the latter you largely tend to get absolutely nowhere. In general, I've had a 24 hour wait before a decent contact person from the relevant company made contact with me, and what has been going around in circles for a week or two is solved in a matter of hours.

That said, there are a number of companies that respond with a generic reply, and you know they're not paying attention - but Peter allows them to stay because he is obviously getting money from them.

Also, I understand that a number of complaints registered are complete BS, but before buying from a particular company, or using a particular service, I check on HP first to see if they are listed, and if so, how many complaints have been registered. If it looks like a train wreck, I avoid that company like the plague.

Consumer protection forums are great if you can get both sides of the story – Isabel Jones type people and the like that give both parties a chance to explain.
But on this site I can state that a company (maybe my opposition) ripped me off and they cannot respond unless they pay this bloke a wad of cash. Unless they do substantial research into the allegation, and are 100% sure of the details, surely they could be open to libel. If this happened to my business I would definitely investigate if I could sue his 'whatevers' right off the internet!
