Help :) 4mb line now <384k

I have a confession to make - it has been years since my last post.

Years, because my DSL has been awesomely stable at 4mb, with no downtime in literally years...

Last week, the Sunninghill dslam/ exchange went down and I was without sync for 2 days.

When the line came back up, it synced at 4mb, noise ratios were as before (v good), UPLOAD speed was 640k as before but my d/l speed was at less than 40k/s.

Finally, after 10 days of calling, a Telkom technician has been here but the best she can offer is that Telkom cannot guarantee line speeds...I think I've pulled all my hair out...

Any advice/ comments/ insight?

Check that your line number is correct - especially if you don't really use it.
Call your cell, unless you have had call today that were for you.

About a year ago our exchange had problems. The problems got fixed and the net worked.

However we were suddenly getting many fax calls. I eventually hooked up an old fax/printer and received a fax. I then got details off there and it was a royal mess.
When Telkom fixed their problems they swapped our land/dsl line with a company's fax/dsl line.

I got hold of those people and we all had to nag to get our lines back.

Maybe they swapped your line with another and those peeps are now enjoying your faster speeds...

there is a minimum speed guarenteed I think for the up to 4Mbs service its 256k (as with the other products)
