Help a noob Please

Hi

I just purchased my first iphone and would like a step by step (noob friendly please ) guide on how to jailbreak my phone, the iphone is on version 5.0.1 (9A405) and i dont own a mac (not sure if you need one to jailbreak) i'm using windows 7 currently.

can anyone assist ?

There is no "Untethered" jailbreak for IOS 5.0.1 as yet, there is one in the making and should be out soon. There is a "Tethered" jailbreak, but if you go this route its a bit of a pain in the a**, as you will need your PC to boot your phone if the battery dies completely.

Once you did the tethered jailbreak open Cydia add the bigboss repository and search for semitether and install.

Now you can put the phone on without the use of a pc, only thing is that the apps wnt work until you boot with ibooty.

I don't have a problem with jailbreaking. But give it some time, get to know the thing before you take this step. Otherwise you'll end up asking if there is a jb app to do X, only to be told "no need, it already does that out of the box". Trust me, I've seen it happen.

I would suggest you wait a bit longer for an untethered jailbreak. Unless you REALLY can't wait, then consider the tethered route. The 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak exists, it's just waiting to be released.

This is of course for < iPhone 4S and <iPad 2.

For the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 there are no jailbreaks yet for iOS 5.0.1.
