Hi everyone.

I really need help.

Please note, I am not looking for sympathy but I need practical help.

My daughter was attacked and murdered on Friday evening. Her iPad and Iphone were stolen. I have access to her iCloud account and both devices are offline. Find My is active on both.

We have done a SIM swap and I received the attached SMS. I know its a scam and I haven't clicked on any links.

Please could you gurus see if you can trace the domain and any other info you can find.

My family is devastated.

Unfortunately, I cannot share details due to the investigation.

Please help me catch these bastards.

find-device.sa.com is behind Cloudflare do it's not going to be possible to find out where it's hosted. You will need to contact CF but they probably won't help you without going through the legal route.

Condolences on this horrific loss. I know it's not the help you asked for, but nonetheless.

If there's anything I can give the police, please let me know.

I did a Truecaller search on the number and it returned Vukile Magagula Lwandle - I assume its a rabbit hole and fake name

That URL is now redirecting to apples icloud service. Unsure if this is Cloudflares doing.

An alternative approach would have been to back up your daughter's data, erase everything from her iCloud, and then submit her actual credentials through the phishing link. If the perpetrators had logged in without using a VPN, you would have received a notification from Apple to her email revealing their real IP address information that could then be provided to the police.

Sorry for your loss :/

Read the article yesterday. It is shocking and can't imagine what you as a father is going through.

As for help, I cant give any. If you a member of Carbonite, maybe ask there, some undercover hackers there.

any progress in tracking down the animals ?
Not as of yet. Investing Officer has petitioned the DPP to speed up the forensic process of which there is a backlog of between 1-2 years.
Apparently there are only two institutions that can process forensics.
There was a similar murder in CT where the MO was almost identical. They play their cards very close as not to release too much info to protect the integrity of the case.

I really wish I could have better news.

As a father, that is the worst phone call you can get.....

i cannot even begin to think of what you are going thu !!

forensics, indeed - long delays. a friend of mine heads up the state pathology forensic lab in cape town.
they too have quite an overload but somehow manage.
so while the pathology aspect may be ready, cases are held up by the other saps forensic labs.

have you contemplated a private investigator ?
they are not cheap, but you can give specific instructions to keeps costs down.
george fivaz (ex saps national commissioner) is known to be pretty good in tracking devices / ppl, perhaps find out how much he would charge to track and locate the iphone & ipad:
there are loads of other investigators, but given his background he probably has contacts in high places.

I would think that the devices are stripped and probably out the country by now. A PI is an option we have't considered yet.
I did make contact with a digital forensics and cyber crime expert who operates privately and he is willing to assist should SAPS need him. I'm not sure how clued up SAPS digital forensics guys are - no offence intended.
