Yeh it was sealed, I wasn't aware it would time out  I'll call them later if necessary is there a local SA number by any small chance?

you can really pick any realm. alot of SA players are splitt allover the place.
if you want PVP go with twilights hammer i think big SA guilds there, but constant pvp gets abit naff.

you could go for quel'thalas, i run a nice friendly casual guild there and it would be nice to have another sa guy

Grimis, Thanks for the info although I have no idea what you are referring to I am sure I'll figure it out as I go along!

naa, there was a free migration off QT to the new one. Its all due to wrath release and the servers being that much more busy. Its really relaxed now though no queue's even the general ping seems to have dropped by 150 or so.

lemme try break it down, the differnt game types are as follows:

PVP - Player vs Player (PVP is always on and you can always be killed by anybody who is not on your faction. Honestly its not condusive to learning and can quickly break a good spirit.

PVE - Player vs Environment (You decide weather or not you want to engage in PVP, you can turn it off and on as you like, this keeps you safe from stupid random killing and repeated corpse camping.

RP-PVP (roleplay pvp, pvp is on constantly and you are enouraged to roleplay.

RP-Pve (same as PVE but you are encouraged to roleplay.

If you are interested in coming to Quel'Thalas realm, do a /who Audacius or /who Grimis and send me a message and we can hook you up and get you started, maybe even toss some coin and bags your way :)

ohmygoodness .... on the Horde side !

Ok excellent, I just wish all these updates would get done! 3.27GB and counting :(

Which game type would you suggest? and I am guessing I must join the Horde side?

try both. :D

Join the same faction as your friends. Be wary about starting on an established realm. Most people there are so far ahead that you arnt really going to get much help. Even if they have low level alts, its unlikely they are going to have the same priorities as you. While you are leveling to the point where can start raiding, it will really help if you can play with some friends around the same level as you. However, its entirely possible to make friends as well. I did. I basically solo'd to level 35 before I started grouping with same crowd. That was over 2 years ago. Still in the same guild with them. Dont not group with someone just because they arent from SA. Try and make as many contacts as you can. It will make the leveling experience a good one. It can be a long grind on your own :)

Accept the fact that you are new to this and most likely your first character will not be the one you eventually settle on. Dont be afraid to switch to another class if the one you have isnt to your liking.

if you bought the battle chest, then you have it

What are the advantages of installing it? Can I play against people who don't have the expansion pack? What about the new Wrath of the Lich King? What do these upgrades do to your account?

the MAIN advantage in installing it is that you wont need to download more updates. This also goes for the new expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. The expansions disks bring your game files up to date.

You may assume that since you arent lvl 61, you dont need TBC. thats true to some extent. You still need your client patched because updates have been made to content which is available to people who didnt buy the expansion. For exampel a new profession called inscription was added a week or 2 before the expansion. If you dont load it from the disks, the game will just download it when log on for the first time. Save your bandwidth.

Could this explain why the client wants to download like 3.7GB's of updates? So once you have purchased the game all future updates are free?

yes. Generally Blizzard releases patches every 2 or 3 months which contains new content. This is "free". I.e. covered by your monthly subscription/game card.

However, the expansions have a price. There have only been 2, Burning Crusade, which you have in the battle chest, and Wrath of the Lich King in Nov 2008

Patch 3.1 and patch 3.2 are already planned and will contain new dungeons as well as other signficant changes. Go to the wow-eu website and look on the forums. There is a forum where future changes are discussed.
