So the wife is in need of a new 2nd hand car to get around with our new born, she has a old ford fiesta, I think 2009 model, this will be traded in or sold and should give us around 50 - 60K maybe more if we are lucky, I would like to get her a decent, safe 2nd hand car, my budget is around 150K including the trade in or sale, I would definitely look at something slightly over 150K if it's worth it, I have absolutely no experience on 2nd hand vehicles and which ones are more reliable than others, or which ones to absolutely avoid, I need a car that's gonna give me another 100 000 - 150 000Km.

The reliability of the Japanese is legendary. Honda Jazz or Toyota Yaris, the Jazz can't be beaten on space by anything in it's class.

What is wrong with the fiesta?

Nothing wrong, it's got a very small boot, 2 of us, a baby, a pram and all the bags to go with it just isn't working.

Read the OP and immediately thought Jazz as well. It's a good, practical car.

What about the Kms? when I see so many it makes me nervous.
I personally think has bit to much km, even know these engines are good for 300k . I would be to worried about the auto gearbox failing . I would try and get one with around 100k and manual gearbox .

Since you are talking about buying a car for your wife, it means you have a car as well.

Can't your car fulfill the above requirements?

I have a single cab bakkie for work unfortunately, it is very necessary for the size of materials that need to be moved around.

we have a 2007 jazz and its unbelievably spacious for a small car

and extremely light on fuel

we have a huge pram and there is still space for few packets of groceries

if you can get a nice jetta 5/6 also would be nice as they are very spacious

Honda Jazz or other altnernatives such as Nissan Qashqai, Toyota Verso, Mazda5 or Mitsubishi ASX, Mazda6, Honda Accord or Suzuki Kizashi roughly 2009 - 2012 - 70 000 - 100 000 km

Do you know what the reason was for the spares? Anything serious?
