Help, connection problem

Really weird, for some reason I can now access my email through Windows Mail, and can explore MyBB, but other sites still give me the DNS error! Any ideas as yet on what this is?

StillOnSent - any luck on your side?

I don't have Skype loaded, so won't be able to check!

I find it really confusing - I have full access to MyBB, but no other local or international sites run! I tried news24.com, iol.co.za, vodacom.co.za, vodacom4me.co.za, gmail.com, hotmail.com, etc

What makes MyBB unique?

I have a client with the same issue but her Skype is running....

One of my clients had Skype access throughout this whole episode, so yeah, Skype worked. He now reports that his internet is back online - any luck on your sides?

I have a similar problem, but with MTN. I don't think it is ISP related, cause when I plug the device onto my xp machine it works, but not on the Vista one.

Worked for me! Thanks John Pienaar! Still not sure I understand what caused it, and I assume that we can soon set the APN to automatic again?

I am in Johannesburg, and had the problem, so not just Cape Town based.

It is deffinately the DNS settings. I could not even check e-mail. I then used IP address and it went through fine. Then knew it was the DNS (80..........) Whenever I started VMCLite, even though I set up to Automatic DNS, it defaulted back to manual DNS with the 80....... DNS IP. I then did not start VMCLite and set up a new network connection and dialed in, no problem. It now gives me the 196........ DNS IP. Will now also try the JohnPienaar sollution.

Also in Cape Town, running Vista with E220

Could it have anything to do with Trend Macro? My Trend has been rather persistent lately in trying to convince me that VCMLite is evil.

It did not work for me. I'm in JHB, West Rand.

Check that the settings were actually saved to the modem

First time I tried it didnt work and on connection it reverted to the old settings

Second time i closed everything after changing the settings and then restarted everything.

The settings were now on the modem
