Help getting into Wndows

Personally - tot something I think a dealer should boast about.

Why not just install Ubuntu - iirc there is a Skype client as well as MSN support.

+1 on both counts. Having an illegitimate copy of Windows is one thing. Talking about it is another. A dealer talking about it.... would make me reconsider using him.

Ubuntu is more than fine if the pc is only used for Skype and MSN...

Where did you fall out? I've been using it for several years now.... ?!

Installed in on an IBM Levono ThinkCentre (2Gig Ram, Core 2 Duo 2.6Ghz) and it froze up on me within 10 minutes....while I was looking for somewhere to install a network printer. Formatted PC, loaded it again, and the exact same thing happened. Ubunto loses. But that's just my experience and opinion.

I'm not boasting the fact ... just won't lie about it. I've got original CD keys lying around, but I just don't think its worth it. And my mom doesn't want Linux :p

He seems to have a issue with Linux if some of his other posts are anything to go by.

Everyone can use whichever OS they want to, but Linux is overrated. It is not better than Windows (maybe vice versa) in any way.

They asked ... if I don't respond ... then people wonder anyway ... and I won't lie about it. I refuse to install copies for other people if thats what your thinking ... and I would never sell a PC with a fake copy. I either don't install anything, or they buy windows ... simple as that.

But now can we please get back on topic.

I used DreamPackPL to overwrite the one file ... and it didn't work ... still same error. When I click login using blank password ... says something about it returned a command, but it is not the correct length.

Ok ... I think it is more than a simple password problem. I get the error "The program issued a command but the command length is incorrect". I searched the internet, and it said I should try start windows at last configuration, but that didn't work ... I'm all out of ideas.

This is the third time somebody got this issue regarding the blank admin password.

Something is going on...

I think its something to do with network program. My friend had the same issue ,but i gave him a fix for it,I an only remember rockxpv4.0 and the other program is in my tools folder.WHen i find this program tonight on my home pc i will tell you all about it.

How do I use it if I can't log into windows? :p

I have used software to crack the passwords, that didn't help.

WHen logging in did you ever try just hitting enter without typing a password...just kidding you have done that already i see, well i can tell you i fixed a problem like this a long time ago and i forgot,WIll look in my pc at home and see what i did cause i labeled certain tools for certain jobs.

I've already used ntpass, thanks. Its not a password issue ... its a log in issue ... if I type the wrong password ... it gives the usual message ... but if I type the right one (In this case blank), it gives the error message. I'm going to hold up until Sunday ... if no solution, I'll format.

Had a similar problem. I just booted off the XP disc and when it got to the screen that said i already had XP on it, I hit F8 (Repair) and let it do the repair.

Had to do a quick setup afterward, but was able to access the machine within about 45mins.

May work for you, goodluck.

Sometimes leaving the password blank wont do the trick either as the machine might have a password policy which might have been enabled by SP3.

Set the password to Password.123

That should meet all complexity requirements. Reboot and log on
