Greetings!

I'm Junn from Philippines. I would like to ask you guys' opinions regarding Intel Pentium Dual-Core laptops and since I am a novice web/graphics designer and am planning to do 3D designing in the future. I had a pentium M 1.6Ghz 1.5GB ddr2 ram which was sold just this month.

A week ago, I went to see a friend who sells computers and parts and then he recommended me a Pentium Dual-Core (Acer Aspire 4710-3a1G08Mi) as the price was within my range of budget at Php 39,000.00 (USD 886-ish). He also said that this model can handle graphic-intensive games which I'm not really fond of playing but given the capability, you would expect 3D/designing softwares to run without lagging.

What's your opinion about Intel Pentium Dual-Core, guys?

Sorry, we don't get those here. Being a 3rd world country, we are still stuck with Pentium-133's and Windows 95a.

yes, our pet lions have a nervous reaction to new hardware...

Ain't that the truth. My little Mufasa brutally mauled my Nigerian neighbors pet hyena when it was wearing a knock-off eyePod

Hahah... Anyway, it's really a pain coping up with technology as I have scarce knowledge on what's new lately.

Perhaps you can try a place like HotHardware

In South Africa it is classified as pornography but I guess in the Philippines anything goes.

Yeah i agree. Just because we live in a third world country doesn't mean we have to behave like it.

@samejima...i would expect the dual core to perform better in 3d redering tasks than your old laptop. If your friend mentioned that the laptop can handle graphic intensive games then im sure that has more to do with the graphics card rather than the processor. Do you have any idea what graphics card the laptop has/onboard graphics for that matter..?

Yes, it will definately be a step up from your old laptop, i suspect that if you do a lot of things in photoshop for instance the ram might need an upgrade to 2gb. But for a start if you could work on your old machine then you will feel the improvement on this one

Sheesh i thought after i read the first reply it will be it but then the lot of you joined in. :(

samejime, these okes were just joking about all the animal stuff

lol. I thought it was hilarous and was gonna get in on the act :)
