Wow dude - more than 2000000 times - hope I got the Zeros correct ;)

If you want to get another ADSL line all together, then your question would be answered.

I presume that your Dad has his capped account and you are keen on getting an uncapped so that you can do what you need to do.

Why not have a chat to your Dad and make the suggestion of going uncapped? He might just use it for Emails and general work which will not be effected by our temperamental Uncapped.

You would have to provide a little more detail on your setup thou for us to give you a bit of a more detailed solution.

haha ja was a joke um well it is a new line you see he has his buisness email account on that email and dont want to change his email account so my only way of getting out of it is getting a different account and just use his line so we currently have a 384 2gig line with SAol and i want to get the R196 uncapped line from Axxess let him be logged on his line and me on mine so i dont disturb his line at all im not trying to be mean but he dont know anything about internet and will be confused to switch to the uncapped and go back onto saol to check his emails well lets put it this way he dont like change so i have to work around the problem haha hope this helps

Yes. It is possible... depending on your router and setup.

Scenario 1: (Works with all routers)
You use the router as a modem instead of a router. Both you and your dad uses dial-up connections to connect to the internet.

Scenario 2: (Router must support half bridge mode)
You keep your dads username/password on the router, but for yourself you use a dial-up connection.

Hope this helps!

Ok so how would i set up either of them , find out weither my router supports it and can you do it over a wirless lan

the new Netgear routers don't support bridging at all

The Netgear DGN2200 is quite a popular router/modem, but I've seen so many members on this forum replacing it since it doesn't even support bridge mode.

You can usually just download the router's User Manual to find out if the router supports bridge & half-bridge (aka PPPoE Relaying / Passthrough) mode.

Besides the bridging issues with the Netgear modems, you'll also notice that the SNR margins are very poor in comparison with the TP-Link & D-Link modems, which has a big impact on 4Mbps ADSL users that live far from the DSLAM.

I'd suggest that you have a look at the D-Link & TP-Link modems. You browse through all the TP-Link modems at Uniterm Direct's website (www.dbg.co.za), and then you can buy from them at bid-or-buy, which is slightly cheaper than buying directly from their website ;)

From our own forums and posted by the Billion SA rep:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/89549-Can-a-Billion-7300-do-half-bridge-mode

Set up dad's ADSL account as normal
Then on your PC for Win7:
*Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center
*Set up a new connection or network
*Connect to the Internet
*(Set up new connection anyway) - if it picks up an existing internet connection
*Broabband (PPPoE)
*Put in your username, password, give it a name and connect
Then in future to connect to your uncapped connection you'd Left click the network icon at the bottom right next to the clock -> Your Uncapped connection and say connect

As for the business email address issue

Why oh why oh why not detach that from your ISP,it's stupid to be dependant on an ISP to have your business mail, nowadays it's possible to have your own .co.za email domain and hosting for it for less than R200p/a if you got some tech smarts or a smart friend to set it up. I did 2 setups like that this weekend. Takes 30minutes with Googleapps free edition and Gridhost

Ohk um so if i have a wirless connection and i connect to it can i still connect to my account over the wirless and my internet and my dads internet wont conflict because when he needs his emails he wants them haha so dont want anything to Interrupt his internet

Yes nepellew, you should be dial PPPoE connections via wireless too, because the wireless and LAN interfaces are almost always bridged - which would mean that they act in the exact same way.

Ok guys i finally bought a wirless router its a Tenda 54Mbps Wireless G ADSL2+ Router W548D i was wondering if i just need to connect to my adsl connection by dial up and it will work

It should if bridging or half-bridging is enabled automatically. Most routers are normally.

Ok guys please help how the hell do you set up this router with the two networks running i dnt mind if we have to sign into both at the same time if any one can help me on how to set up this router from begining to end please if you need the manual ill email the manual dont help at all to me

Hey. It was partially explained earlier in the post.

First a point for clarification: You said you required wireless network access, will this be only for you or for your dad as well? The answer to this will restrict the available options you have concerning which account is logged into the router permanently, as I understand you don't wan't pops to have to change and details.

The basic setup follows these steps:

1. Log into router, navigate to page that displays a PPPoE dropdown box. Usually this is on the page where you input your ISP username and password.
2. Select 'PPPoE with passthrough'/'bridge mode' (router dependant)
3. Input the username and password of the ISP which will be providing the wireless network access (I assume this will be your uncapped account).
4. On dad's pc setup a dial up connection to his ISP (Network and Sharing Center; Setup new internet connection).
5. Create a desktop shortcut of this dial up connection called 'dad click here for internetz' :D
6. Explain to dad that he needs to click on this shortcut each time he wants to make use of the bandwidth from his isp.

Hope this helps.
