Hiya!
I set up my Explora myself a couple of weeks ago, not rocket science. (I also set up our PVR a few years ago, from a standard DSTV decoder single LNB to twin LNB, PVR decoder, also pretty simple)
Could someone please point me to the thread/posts for the above (as in my thread header)?
I spoke to a very helpful and patient (thank you Neyo-it not you it's me ) MC consultant on Thursday, and jotted down what I could, but got a wee bit confused. I just want a step by step diagram/post with no fancy schmancy jargon, I'm a bookkeeper by trade not an IT techie. But I'd like to think I'm no slouch in the techie dept either I have been on the dstv forum itself, but peeps there are trying to do other advanced & wonderful things. So I thought I'd come on over to my trusty ol' mybroadband forums for help.
Current set-up
-EXPLORA
-Twin LNB
-Explora multi-switch thingie using the unicable to Explora & twin LNBs running into the multi-switch from the satellite dish (one LNB cable of which is connected to a lightning protector whatsis, from that to multi-switch)
-FHD TV
I sorta grasped the concept of what Neyo was explaining, what with all the recabling/added cabling. But I would just like a:
Step 1-do this
Step 2-do that
Techie status
I can make my own cables (coax back in the day)
I can switch on and use a pc, tablet, smart phone
I can change a plug
I can change plug from 2-pin to 3-pin
I can browse the interwebs (which I have been doing looking for a clearly define set-up process)
I understand what hdmi, RCA, RF etc cables are
I would use the Explora as primary decoder, HD PVR as secondary.
I have an Ellies Remote Blaster.
I would set up the decoders next to each other downstairs with a hearbeat cable going from one decoder to the other.
Set up a blaster eye goodie downstairs by the decoders and the other eye goodie in my room upstairs.
I don't want to mess around too much with the cabling, as it is, downstairs (hence the Blaster acquisition).
I know I'll need t make more cables & contact MC to activate Xtraview etc.
I'll start in the meantime & check back here.
Any help please guys and gals?
Please keep it simple.
Ciao
