Help Please !!!!

ok ... don't know what changed from just a little while ago but I now have beeps. Giggled the speaker a bit and now get beeps so probably a loose connection there.

So far:

- With only CPU I got one long beep and two shorts
- added RAM to the slots = silence
- added the other RAM to slots and got what sounded like the correct thing, one beep after about 2-3 secs.

Gonna try add the other RAM (that produced no sound) and see what happens.

This means that yr cpu and mobo is fine. Good news.
;)

But you still have no display?

Switch back to onboard GFX and try again.

EVERYTHING WORKS NOW !!!!!

Sheesh !!!

Except one of the RAM modules that seems to screw everything up ... so I am assuming that it was a faulty RAM module and a loose speaker ...

Does that make sense ?

Thanks for all the tips and help guys

This is all very positive. Processor is working, MB is not fried. It is probably just that you cannot see anything.

Try the RAM in slots A1 and B1.

Good one mate. I still reckon u can get the ram to work, just read very carefully, these manuals are written by japs remember ;)

Try the RAM in slots A1 and B1.

Tried that ... does not work. If I put one of the modules in slot A1 by itself, then all works. But if I put the other module in the same slot, then no beep, no nothing !!

The 2nd module is then shot. Try my post #70, if that doesn't work, just swap your RAM for a new set from wherever you bought it.

I will try that a little later ... have to head off to the shops with the wife quickly.

Thanks for all your help (and the other guys too).

Hope next time I am on this forum it's to ask why I keep getting my ass kicked in COD4 or The Witcher ... :D:D:D

Have a good day !

Cool, glad you got the main problem sorted. :D

More CRAP !!!!

My graphics card is giving me hell !!!!!!!!

I keep getting a whole punch of dots everywhere and lines.

I re-installed the drivers that came with the card and at the reboot the bloody thing gave me a blue screen !!!

I then did a safe start and re-installed again. Does not give me the blue screen but still gives me lots of dots and lines and the refresh is very slow.

Any ideas ?

Vic :(:(:(

ok, while I am downloading the latest drivers. Is there anything else I need to do or look out for?

Finally got a replacement model for the graphivs card that gave me so much hell.

Just finished installing it and I am currently running it as the display adapter and it seems to work great.

One thing however is that every time I startup windows I get a "found new hardware" on the PCI slot. The graphics card sits on the PCI-e slot, so I have no idea what this is all about.

I tried getting it to install whatever the hell it is from my ATI installation disk but it finds nothing. Any ideas?

Regards,
Vic
