Help plox, wifi AP problems

A Samsung and a Huawei...nice.

Well if you read the email above, they talk about a huawei and a printer...

So you can guess what printer I have? :D

Incidentally, I wonder why the printer (2m away from the Mikrotik) associated to the unIntellinet.

An update

after testing a couple of units, we found the same issue with mobile devices.
Please allow us a couple of more days to find out the bug.

We will inform you asap.

Wow, I am surprised they came back to you. But hopefully they can send you updated firmware to sort out the problem.

Well I did email them telling them that I was about to throw the PoS away, buy a mikrotik and tell everyone I knew to stay the hell away from Intellinet ;)

Still more then I expected :) ! well done keep us updated

They've just emailed me:
"as this item is end-of-life I couldn't get any updated firmware version.
However, this is a compatible one, which you should try:"

with a link to an ftp site...

Will try it tonight!

At least your speed almost doubled :) You probably won't miss that last 15 Mbps anyway, but yeah, you would probably need newer spec equipment to reach max speed.

15?

Got a followup from them:

> Does this perhaps mean 20mhz channel width?
Yes. You are 100% correct about this. The 20M does refer to the channel width. We are sorry that we previously did not realize this.

Thank you for sending us the results. We can tell you already one thing. These speeds exceed by far what a 54 Mbps wireless G network would be able to deliver. Back in the day of 54 Mbps Wireless G, that absolute maximum you could achieve, under the best possible conditions at very close range, was roughly 30 Mbps. Your speed test shows values that exceed that. That already shows that your device should be connecting at more than 54 Mbps.

Your speed test also shows that you were using an iPad 4th generation. It uses a BCM4334 chipset. The BCM4334 is a dual-band capable all in one single-chip dual-band combo chip. They key is, though, that the BCM4334 only supports a single spatial stream of a maximum of 150 Mbps. That means, while the Intellinet Wireless 450N Router can provide up to 450 Mbps link connectivity for 5 GHz Wireless connections, and 300 Mbps for 2.4 GHz wireless connections, your IPad can only utilize a maximum of 150 Mbps, regardless of which network it is connected to.

Our own real life tests have shown time and time again that peak effective throughput of a typical 150 Mbps connection is much closer to 80 Mbps, given perfect conditions at close range (3 ft.) with clear line of sight. As soon as the distance was increased, that speed could drop easily below 50 Mbps into the high 40s and 30s even.

Got a followup from them:

So wifi is really not great for high speed unless you have the newest spec equipment. I see this with my Roku as well, it is only 4m away from the router but it struggles to stream high bitrate from my pc. Still want to install a lan cable to the pc to reduce the wifi traffic, that will probably also help.

I have a laptop with 5ghz stuff, it's about 3 years old now. When I associate it with my mikrotik on 5ghz it connects at 300mb/sec. Speed tests come down at line speed.
But yeah, all my media equipment is wired for that exact reason.
