Help postman pot

Find a friend with the TV and test it yourself. Reviews aren't the be-all and end-all. I can assure you that the PS51F5500 is plenty bright.

Oh my mistake.

Again, my memory is fuzzy ... but weren't there a few threads on here created over that model also complaining that it was too dim?

The 6400 is far better. I would have major regrets if i bought the 6030 tbh. Take it back.

Dunno hey, I don't like dem chicken legs effect and all that shiny chrome

I think marine got a bargain - a 14K TV for 11K

Lack of Smart and all that other ****e is a plus in my book - bet most people don't use it anyway.

Which were resolved...

You have absolutely zero genuine intention on this sub-forum. Sad.

My memory is a little sketchy but - um - didn't they list that as the dimmest TV ever tested?

Not sure about that cause avforums give it a 9/10 rating.

Surely if the TV was as bad as you try to make it, they wouldn't give it a 9 out of 10 rating now would they?

Ah but I do ...

See, left up to you alone every answer would be plasma F5500 without thinking that in some situations, an LED may be better. We both know that plasma is dim as it stands, but this F5500 is particularly dim and brought up over and over again.

I'd be weary of even suggesting it without knowing a little more.

Dim doesn't necessarily mean bad - I mean even your link points it out

It’s probably best to get this out of the way right from the off – the PS51F5500 is not one for brighter rooms and certainly not a display you would want placed facing a light source, such as a window ... it struggled in our living room with the current sunny weather.

I don't know of anyone who dutifully turns off all the lights and closes the curtains every time they watch TV, and the Samsung is worse than any TV we've recently tested with the lights on

Numerous sites and people on forums - even this one - have mentioned the poor brightness levels.

I just took a look at the TV now with a Bluray, this TV is not dim man, lol.. :D
My cell light setting isn't even at max and there is plenty of color & brightness.

Anyhow - let's not derail this thread.

I think the set was a very decent buy for the money. Yes - you could save and get a plasma, but while better in some regards they're actually *gasp* worse in others. You have to see your own needs and decide from there.

I - for example - rarely sit and stare a pitch black screen to notice uniformity. I generally watch movies or series, so for me it makes little difference. I also have my set in a room with windows, which means LED would be better for me.

Having only two HDMI doesn't bother me either

I don't even know why I bother with you. If you're going to participate in this sub-forum and make claims about what others say, you'd best stick around and read a little before.

The F6030 and F5000 LCDs are both on par in terms of PQ, not much between them. It's a very diluted 6 Series.

Either F6400 LCD or F5500 plasma (3D, latest SMART, dual core processor, touch remote).

I'm sad that you didn't go with the plasma after all the advice we've given you. :)

But if you do intend to do a lot of daytime/bright viewing, then LCD is a better option.

However if you prefer watching your movies with the lights off...

Its Monday! Its still January! Payday is still a whole week away.....but you got 55 inches more than you had this morning. Dude, that it IS a good deal!

Grab popcorn and a Fight Club dvd and enjoy.

Keeper - didn't we have this chat over quality and quantity and the only thing you wanted was bigger?

The cheapest biggest screen you could get?

I never told anyone to get "the cheapest biggest screen" - I said the 60" Samsung Smart 3D Plasma would give you a better experience than the 46" or whatever Sony you were talking about.

Did you buy your fantasy TV yet? Is that the TV with the perfect blacks?

Point of correction - PP certainly advised me to buy an LED/LCD when I indicated what the TV would be used for.

So....
