Hey all,

After 1 year and 8 months I finally have an my ADSL line installed.

I got home last night, set up the router and tried to connect with my username and pass without sucess.

The DSL light on the modem is a constant green but the internet light stays red.

I phoned telkom and went into the router setup, checked the settings were correct but no change.

I did notice that my router didn't have an IP from DHCP.

I tried again at 22:00 and managed to get connected for about 2 hours and made the mistake of switching my router off. When I tried again I couldn't connect again.

Has anyone else ever experienced these symptoms?

also consider a firmware upgrade on the router. get it from the retailer or agent. which router is it?

Nope I didn't but I'll try tonight. here's holding thumbs and big toes!

i'll try the firmware upgrade. It's a telkom netgear router

sounds like an authentication problem. always happens to me that i acidently make a typo in the password. to make sure that indeed is the problem try 'guest' (without the quotes) as the username and password. it's just for testing perposes, and not free internet as some were saying :)
the default gateway is usually 10.0.0.2

Thanks for your suggestion Srack0verflow, but that has been ruled out already.

Telkom suspects it's the line and have logged a call with the techies. My connection is up after major fiddling from my side(Restarts & resets), but I don't dare switch my router off.

no problem. pitty you're having issues, you had to prolly wait long enough for them to get in gear and now it's not 100%

anyway, welcome; may your cap always last

Thanks :),

lol you have no idea of the last 20 months begging telkom to take my money...

But it's here at last albeit a few connection issues.
