Help with Chip pls.

AND OMW HOW CHEAP IS THE RAM FROM PC INT? is that a spelling mistake damn?

hey gnome it is a complete pc no monitor mouse keyboard e.t.c.
just a case but its damn good value for money i think

That depends on the motherboard entirely, but you can go for it if you want...

no it doesnt say wat mobo. should i buy my whole pc from pc int? it seems cheap?

Hehe, edited original post. Seems Rectron don't know how to categorise things ;) :o

Most of these hardware suppliers have no idea what they are supplying so no big surprise :p

Well I always buy components because I like to know what I am buying, I usually try not to skimp on the motherboard because certain MB's don't overclock very well and they are generally pieces of sh*t but check my above posts and read the anandtech guide, you'll get a good idea of motherboards that are well priced and give good results.

Honestly I don't follow the prices that much so get a price list from that 5% on Rectron store and then check online prices and compare them.

Generally I buy from 3 retailers:

www.prophecy.co.za
www.cyberdyne.co.za
www.pcint.co.za

But I live in Pretoria so I'm not sure of what the logistics are about getting the hardware to you...

As for the Motherboard like I said read the guide and then YOU have to decide where you wish to spend money.

lawl 2.5k can get me a DECENT gaming PC dude. i obviously cant get a killer machine but something ok. i can get a whole CPU from PC Zone, Core 2 Duo E4400 for R2499 - thats decent in my book (excluding graphics card which i got already. just not sure about the mobo cos it just says LGA1066 OC FSB Motherboard :( and the RAM is only 1gig (ddrII800)

lol only good thing about E4*** is their oc'ability and a cheap ass intel board has no oc'ability :)

sigh it sucks to be poor - or to have stingy parents sigh.

True, and unfortunately the motherboard is the most expensive component :(

The Gigabyte motherboard is a solid board but it costs R1.4k which makes your R2.5k target very hard to reach, esp. if it includes a PSU which incidentally I wouldn't skimp on... (They most certainly will)

oh ya this is wrong forum to ask but does anyone know of a way i can like make money on the internet?

my mate had a job 4 years ago like completing these accounting forms and he got paid ok.

just checking anyone got any ideas?

cheers

hmmm postman i am keen for the core 2 duo. im just hesitant cos i read in the latest pc format that the pentium d is only slightly different from the core 2 duo - plus its got mucho clocking headroom.
dunno how reliable pc format is though
thanks for the help

Pentium D is old tech core 2 is the latest, P D is crap and should never be bought no matter what a stupid mag says and P D has zero oc'ability next to a Core 2 especially the 2*** series

You didn't read the entire thread did you?

Pentium D != Pentium 4 they are BOTH based on the SAME core.

And reputable hardware sites claim up to and over 100% overclock on the Pentium D, namely Anandtech and Tomshardware...

i just looked at price guide its 320WPSU. theres an outdated specials guide on the website = www.zones.co.za if anyone wants to take a look - they are the cheapest place i know of

listen guys all i play is warcraft 3 (bnet) and cod4 and css.
i can run cod4 on my 2.2 celeron with a AGP 7300gt and 1gig ram - and its playable (i play online).

i basically only want a system that can run these games nicely

For 2.5K I think your best bet is that deal you posted, perhaps the motherboard can overclock....

Make sure it comes with a warranty!
