Hey guys need some advice, my consumption for 1 x person is about R900-00 in a complex, no pool.
How do I isolate whats going on, whats draining the electricity?
I only use a fan every night, my PC is on all day HTPC.
Use a fridge and some TV's on standby, thats about it and shower or bath every day.

It seems crazy for 1 person.

So is there a device I can buy to find out whats happening? Maybe its the geyser?

Need some help guys

Thanks

Count flashes on your prepaid meter to calculate current consumption... then switch off at the switch board to do so for specific devices.

My geyser for a family is about R300.
Small fridge < R100.
TV < R50.

I usually unplug chargers, but even that and a PC at idle does not use much.

Lights are < R20 unless you use halogen or old school lamps... then up to R300.

Check out TheOwl and Efergy monitors. Looking at around R1k.

How many units does the R900 get you?

If you have a prepaid meter, you can get an app that shows usage. Otherwise an efergy energy monitor will help.

What type of TV's?

I had a similar problem and it turns out my old Plasma (Samsung 1st gen 50") was eating power like a hungry dog, even on standby

Wow. Thats alot of units. What type of lighting is in the house?

I'm on 450units per month, household of 3, but with Heatpump, LED lights all around, and gas for cooking.

Im wondering if it may be the Geyser?
No gas, I think normal lights but hardly have them on much.
Only thing I can think of is the geyser

On the Conlog prepaid meters you can press #1# and it shows you your current electricity usage in watt.

Set your geyser to 55 Deg. for a month and see if it makes a difference

Geyser was our problem. We now switch geyser on only 1/2 to 1 hr before we need hot water. Once a month we let it heat fully. Saving me a ton as now the hot water usage is sort if planned and coordinated. A timer should be the final solution.

You will save less with a timer. The only reason you save now is because you only heat half or less of your geyser and immediately use all the hot water.
