Help with LuxPower inverter

Hi everyone,

I recently got installed with a LuxPower SNA5000 WPV inverter, along with a 5kw Photon 5kw Lithium battery. Everything is connected to the db board. No solar (yet).

Everything is running correctly on the inverter, except for my power consumption. For some reason, the inverter is using both the grid and batteries. It’s using very little from the batteries, but it is draining it and it does not start recharging straight away.

I connected the inverter to the app and done the following:

1. Changed the AC Charge time to be 00:00 as the start and 23:59 as the end
2. Change the AC first start time to start at 00:00 and end at 23:59. If I don’t do this, it will just use the battery and does not charge.

Does anyone know how I can set this up to only use the battery during moments such as a power cut or loadshedding and to switch on the grid only and start charging the batteries to 100% (and leave it at 100%) when the power comes back?

on grid EOD Make sure that your battery is using coms if you are using % SOC .

Also is your dongle connected to wifi?

Don't know much about luxpower

Is there coms with battery or voltage based SOC

The start charge SOC of 90 i would think it would allow the battery to go down to 90 before initiating a charge session again

So imagjne the battery won't be kept at 100% it will however be inbetween 90-100 at all times , if it dips below 90 a charge will happen go to 100 and any dips or spikes that is outside of the jnverter good range may see it switch to battery for a few seconds and allow a drain as low as 90 before initiating a charge again or naturally if the voltage trigger is hit doing the same

I'm using these settings below, and the battery only kicks in when there's no eskom power. Hope it helps.

If you are purely using this as a UPS (no PV) should the "take load together" function no be disabled.

The small draw from the battery is likely to power the inverter itself which I assume is normally supplied by PV, but in your case from the battery since no PV is installed.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about Luxpower inverters.
 
I purely use it as UPS. Told my electrician what I wanted and he did the settings.
no money for panels yet.😕

My 2c would be to start with inverter and panels. Then add battery later. With loadshedding not really happening makes more sense. Obvs a bit late now

Honestly, I’m not sure what coms is. I mainly got this setup because of all the crazy power cuts that’s been happening in Fourways and I work from home.

What you highlighted is set to 15. Should it be higher or lower?

Also, I tried setting up the dongle to WiFi. It says that it’s successful and the dongle will reset soon, but nothing else happens after that. Not sure what to do there.

Did you make yourself a luxpower account?

You can set it to 100%. It stand for the state of charge that the inverter will return to using eskom if eskom if online
