Help with Netgear DG834G

Hi

Can somebody please help me with connecting a Netgear Router to use with Telkom adsl. The telkom technician has been to my house and the line is synced and working with the Netgear Router that he brought and tested.

However the DSL light on my router is not staying stable and hence I cannot connect to the internet. Which i've been told by telkom is the problem. So everything is in working order except the DSL line not staying stable once connected to my router. As soon as technician plugged line into his router the DSL light was stable and it connected to internet. This is a brand new router and has never been used before.

I have been told that perhaps i need to change some settings. Could somebody please assist who has maybe had success installing the same router and advise me of anything i might be doing wrong.

setting needs to be changed on that modem in short of writing an essay as to all the setting u need to change what settings have u checked firstly

reset the router to default and use the supplied cd rom to set it up again with your ISP details. use the manual provided on the cdrom to find out how to reset to factory defaults.

Quick check under ADSL settings. Make sure that your multiplexing method is LLC, and that VPI and VCI are 8 and 35 respectively.

I will try and do the above changes in settings when I get home and let you know if it solved the problem. At work at the moment so can't try it immediately.
