Good day

I would just like to ask about this SSD:

Kingston SV 100s2 64GB version

Just want to know if it's worth it.. I can get it for about R910-00

And the space and all..

just need some opinions before getting it..

I am keen on getting a SSD cause I want to make my programs run all faster and all..

Thanks :D

I have 128Gb and constantly running out of space so 64Gb would be unimaginable for me.
I would spend a grand more and go for the 128Gb.

I see..

But what do you have on there?

All your program files and games?

Cause I am only going to install my Window 7 files on there, and that's it...

Just want to know what do you have on your SSD

Thanks

The SSD for Windows, Office and programs you use a lot is marvellous. I also keep Word documents on there but take care not to exceed 70% capacity

Where did you get it for that price? My dealer price is R 939 + VAT

The game will load even faster if run from the SSD.

I have everything on my SSD. I am in development so my source files, programs, OS everything is on there.
I use external HD for videos.

Yeah, I know about the gaming, that is one of the reason why I want an SSD..

Everything?

I was planning to leave everything on my other internal [One that I currently have]

how much space does Window 7 take up Normally?

Yeah, and only a game or two on my SSD..

Picture, vidoes, etc all on my other internals :)

You think that will work with a 64GB? Or should I get a 128GB?

Windows 7 uses about 6gb. You can store your email on another drive, along with pictures and music. I think 64gb is enough, the 128gb is quite a bit more.

I'd like to know where I can buy a 64gb Kingston SDD for R910,00. As I said, the cheapest supplier in Cape Town lists this drive on their price list for R 939,00+VAT which is R 1070,46. You can send me a PM if you will.. Thanks

I'm running a 60GB SSD for OS & Office & the current game i'm playing ....

My User Files (Docs, Vids, Pics, ect) as well as Program Files runs from 2nd drive through THIS method.

With the next format I'll keep the program files folder on the SSD ... there is still enough space. ;)

That will work if you are not a power user. OS, page files and a game or two.

Keep in mind that manufacturers label all HD drives in bytes. 64Gb drive is in fact is smaller as it is 64 billion bytes which would make your drive only 61Gb in size.

only 6Gb? I thought maybe at least 15-16GB..

Well.. I have a friend that can get it for me at that price..

But my friend isn't making a profit from that.. so the cheapest supplier then is probably making a profit.. IE increase in price :(

mm.. then 64GB should be ok then.. :D

I generally just keep my C: drive for windows and apps like word and all, keep games on 1 hdd, music and files on another hdd and my precious docs and work on a raid drive :P

64GB should be plenty if that is what you wanna do, you should have at least 20GB to spare after all installs

Yeah, that's somewhat what I'm going to do.. though not going to septerate them into so many HDD, just all in one, but different folders :D

I have a 60GB OCZ SSD in my MacBook Pro. Using 25GB for the OS, Applications and documents. Doubt if a Windows install post patches with Office & a bunch of apps will take that much space.

Still have 31GB free. All MP3's, Movies, iso's etc live on an external drive.
