Help with vide codecs

I'm having some problems with viewing some video files. Any suggestions which codec pack is the best to download and install.
Matroska Pack, K-lite Codec or something else.

k lite, it plays all my video files, just remember when installing it to check all the boxes for the different codecs.

Can I ask, would one be able to play most formats with k-lite through WMP11/12 without having to use media player classic.

I am using WMP 11 on XP 64 bit using a codec pack * Cole 2K * from a place I forget -- think the authors website.

Free download -- but check the "Advanced" install or else you get some advertising toolbars etc etc.

Runs fine -- not sure of all the codecs (but runs all the * UNI * type movies fine )

Looks like it runs in HD mode on the Dell D830 -- better than watching it on the big screen.

Functionality-wise there are other players I just prefer to WMP. GOM, VLC, KMPlayer for instance.

I don't use any packs, they tend to be heavy.

Just download Media Player Classic

and these two codecs:

Everything should play even with WMP.
Once done, open Media Player Classic
> view
> options
> Playback
> Output
then tick 'Haali Renderer'
