Okay;

I'm considering upgrading my graphics card.
I currently have the 8800GTS XXX 320MB edition (XFX)

Suggestions?

I can buy cost, and my limit is say... mmmmm, R3000 MAX!

I've been looking at the NVidia cards from FrontOSA, and casually glancing at ATI cards, (ASUS mainly) but I'm stumped.

My current card is a really good card - what upgrade should I go for...

You should be able to get a ATI HD4890 1GB for about R2500 or a nVidia GTX260 for about R2000. I would get the HD4890 if I was not running linux.

Yea frontosa got some nice deals on a 4890 must say, you should DEf go for it, even the 4870 they have for 1.6k is sweet.

Ive got the Sapphire ATI 4870, and Im really happy with it..

I think the Sapphire cards have really done well!

Your budget is quite a bit more, I say get one of these!

Sapphire HD4890 chipset , HDMi ready , support crossfire-X , built-in HDMi codec+7.1 audio , support DirectX 10.1 , 1080p HDCP Compliant , pci-e 2.0 x16 , 1Gb/1024mb 256bit 4 channel DDR5 , 800 stream processors ( pixel shader engine + vertex pipelines ) , core/memory : 850/3900mhz , dual dvi ( with 1 x dvi to d-sub + 1 x dvi to HDMi converter ) , HDTV+HDMi tv-out

I was thinking of selling it, but I might keep it for my work PC so I can play games at work... yes, I can play games at work, my boss says after hours and I can use his 8mb line ;) (2x 4MB's) to pay games online.

Is he looking for more staff by any chance?

Cool man, let me know if you change your mind though.

But more likely that I'll buy next month as I'm seriously considering joining up with CTWUG this month.
Can't have the best of both worlds in one month... on my salary anyway :p :D

Nice to see people supporting ATi - they make good cards which aren't expensive either.

For those interested, I went ATI... I got the Asus EAH4870 Dark Knight and while I was there, I got myself the Core 2 Quad Q9400 CPU too ;)

I'm officially broke till next year!

new cpu, new gfx card, new Star Trek Series collection....man, that new job is sure paying off!
