I would also pick him above Ackerman, Even Plumtree and Mitchell for that matter. But saying he is the best man for the job......

We need a NZ coach. If we stick with AC we will have another Meyer. AC brings nothing to the table HM didn't already bring.

My preference is also a Kiwi coach. I take issue with those calling Coetzee a political appointment. He has a very good CV and the best South African candidate by miles. It probably says more about the appalling state of coaching in this country than about AC.
 
Thank goodness he's gone. I was tired of watching the bulls play every time I tuned in to see a Springbok game. Coetzee has the best C.V amongst the current crop of S.A coaches but I hated the brand of rugby we played under him at WP. Then again that pragmatic approach may be what is needed at international level.
 
Don't care who the new coach is - as long as he's up to the task and is willing to have the best players in their positions playing instead of bench warming game after game or being left behind in Joburg and is willing to try different game plans when/if others fail, I'll be shouting Bokke. Just gladder than glad that poephol is gone. Hopefully that is the last of stagnant rugby.
 
People give HM a lot of stick, but he had a better record than both JW and PDV. He was ahead of Mallet as well going into the Autumn Internationals last year.

Sure he didn't adapt, but there are a few coaches that also fell into that trap - PDV after 2009.

And you can also only play with what you have. Our issues isn't player quality or coach quality. It is because we have 5 teams all playing an individual brand of rugby. NZ have an All Black brand of rugby that all there franchises play. But that is probably easier for them as they live in a geographical smaller area, which means conditions are likely the same. In SA each team has a uniquely different setting to play in.

A Super Rugby play-off spot or JWC success would help at least.

Meyer won Super Rugby and was apparently considered not good enough by people here. Looking at Ackermann's record comparatively, he shouldn't even be in the running.

For the record, I like Ackermann very much, but some people's logic here is just laughable.

Yip,
Most people giving HM stick doesn't really know anything about rugby.
People also don't take in account how close some of the games where that we lost, his stats could have very easily looked MUCH better. People also don't realize if we played "running/Attacking/loose rugby" against NZ, they would have annihilated us up. He played the only game plan that gave us a realistic chance.

The next coach wont change anything if nothing changes beneath him, The Super 15 teams cant play structured rugby and then we expect the boks to play loose rugby. If they want the boks to play more attacking and loose rugby, it has to start at school level right through to Super 15. This is how its done in NZ. But i have a feeling this wont change, we love our forwards dominant game, Its our strength.

Ackerman has played for the Bulls, Lions and Sharks. He has all the right connections. I would say that it's easier for someone from the lions to get the job over a person from the Sharks.

It doesn't matter if he played for Mars, he does not have the credentials to coach the boks.
Maybe in 4 years if he wins a Super trophy or 2, maybe another Currie Cup as well......

If we are looking just internally, Allister Coetzee is the best we've got. (Excluding HM, JW and NM)
 
To keep everyone one happy, th best would be the following
Head Coach : Allister Coetzee
Forwards Coach : Johann Ackerman
Backs Coach : Robbie Deans
Defense Coach : John McFarland
Technical Adviser : Johann van Graan

Sad choice. Lets see what the future holds...or rather not. We will step [-]up[/-] to the Bafa[-]nn[/-]kka culture and performances.

Long lived SA rugby. it was good while it lasted!
